I started looking into getting rid of the ugly Bosch rear calipers. I went in on a deal with peterparker , he needed the front and I took the rear. They were super cheap $1250 from eBay for yellow M performance kit.
Why did I do this? Well simple to save money $850 and the performance is 95% the same as having the 370mm up front for street use. Why waste a good 4 piston brembo caliper because it uses a slightly smaller rotor It took me a while to find all the info, since not many go this route so I am confirming It does work! After much controversy I found out that the M235i runs this setup from the factory. 340mm front (blue) 345mm rear (blue). You need rotors for the rear I ordered part #34206797607 1. Painted the front calipers Phoenix yellow code 455 *i used m performance cast sticker logo on front just to add a bit of uniqueness to it. 2. Install rears, use Motove bleeder to bleed the calipers. 3. CODE the rears to appropriate size under DSC It's c_variante_bremsscheibe_hinten_c and change from 20/330 to 24/345. If you don't, you may end up with some pedal moosh. I did. But after coding it went away It works! DSC works ABS works, Launch Control works as it should. No issues at all. Tip: if you have a 35i series car do not swap out the dust shields, they're the same size in the m performance kit. And to boot I got the wrong ones designed for a 320i/328i hub. Plus the hub needs to come off to instal the shield appropriately. SKIP this the 345mm rotor has no issue clearing a 335 shield. Downside is I have the M performance pads in the rear right now as it came in the kit and they do not have the same bite or "grip power" as we all know like the U.s. Spec m sport pads do. If you want to do this, and are worried don't be. It all works as it should. It's proven and I have put in a lot of time to find all info on this otherwise I wouldn't have done it. 370mm rotors are cosmetic to me and I've read that the stoping power isn't any different then the 340mm. The positive to the 370mm dimpled rotors is less weight and better heat dissipation IF you track the cars. Happy Modding

Congrats!
It does look very good, if I had been more confident in my skills I'd have done the same as you - perhaps only in blue - and saved a ton of money. But brakes isn't something I'm prepared take chances with, so went for the full M performance kit, dealer mounted.

I applied the sticker after the paint was dry, then I did 2-3 coats of high gloss clear over it all. http://www.ebay.com/itm/201513391419?redirect=mobile Quote:
Plus I didn't want to have to repaint a perfectly good set of rears that have factory paint finish. I don't blame you one bit for not wanting to mess with brakes especially opening up the lines. Plus you get the warranty benefit at the dealer.

Smart idea- perfect work!
You can use M3 rear pads (and front as well) to get both initial grip and tirelessness.

Nice job there. I like yellow or orange m perf. Blue is too common now. I might try to repaint it one day.
But I wonder why you didn't paint the rusty part of the front disc as well to make it all look new.

I found this thread linked in another thread I was doing some reading on and it seems it's the perfect solution to my dilemma. I confirmed through the local BMW parts dept that my 328i has the following:
Specs: • Front: Brembo 4-piston calipers, grey/unfinished; 340mm blank brake rotors • Rear: OEM (Bosch, Ate, etc) 1-piston calipers, grey/unfinished; 330mm blank brake rotors So the weak point is the rear caliper really. If I purchase a set of 2 piston Brembo 335i rear calipers from Ebay (approx $200), 345mm rear blank OEM rotors ($275ish), and better pads all the way around ($300ish) I should have a budget friendly 90% version of the M Performance BBK that retails for $1700 or so on sale for the yellow kit, right?

Sweet! Now I just have to find some bona fide 2 piston Brembo rear calipers as most of the ones I'm finding on the secondary market are what I have now 1 piston.

I paid $500 bucks for my rear yellow with pads and sensors. You gotta find someone that needs the front set. You're tempting me to be that guy lol as I'm wanting to put bigger brakes on my wife's 228 .
