Do I need to go into the dealer for a software upgrade?

I bought a used f30 and would like to upgrade the software and reset the control modules. Is this a DIY or do I need to take this into the dealer?

Cheers

You can easily update the software for compatibility with smartphones, tablets or USB sticks.

For a big update of all ecus, you need a cable, the right software and a power supply.
You can do it yourself, but if you haven't dealt with it that intensely, I wouldn't recommend it.

ISTA can do that, but needs an ICOM (more than a simple cable).
So it is recommended to use E-Sys for the update and ISTA for the things that have been done after the update (clear error memory, initialization).
