Audi SQ5 - Would you?
I know there is a new model coming out in around 15 months but I do like the Audii SQ5 Quattro S Line 313ps Tip Diesel
The interior is starting to look dated in comparison to the Mercees GLC but the discounts are starting to appear for this model. my F30 is due to be returned May/June time. I can obtain a 2 yr lease for around £500 per month but also obtained a PCP price from Audi at Deposit: £2000 Term:48 Months Mileage:15k pa Repayments: £544.21 GFV: £22,085.60 APR: 6.7% Finance price is £41k Cash price £42k MRRP £46k There may be better deals out there on this car but it is a good benchmark for me. You do get a lot of car for your money! I know it is not a sports car but the size is more practical for me. My dilema is that a number of Vehicles I would consider are coming to the end of their life cycle or due updates like the BMW X3, BMW 435 GC, Audi A5, VW Touraeg R-Line. The GLC is a new model that I like but is only a 2100cc tractor engine and the PCP deal is around the same as the Audi. So Is it worth having one for a couple of years on lease which would be enough time for new models to come onto the market as mentioned above. I would appreciate your valued thoughts! Many thanks Dickie |

Can't help on the figures but friend has a 6 month old SQ5 in sepang blue with a host of options. Cracking car and certainly not slow.
Interior tech is a bit dated. |

Funny how fashions change. Cars go from angular, to rounded, back and forth.
Current design seems sharper/harder lines. The last gen Audis are however (IMO) slightly too rounded, and nothing more than the current Q5 and old Q7 (looks too bulbous). I'm sure they will sharpen it up when the new one comes out, as they have sharpened the others in their line up. |

Nice motor. Decent lease deal that, as with BMW X's performance diesel SUVs hold their value well.
I am thinking of an Rsq3 from early next year (to be fair I am also thinking of m5 340i lol dependent on deal or even keep the 335d but that's unlikely due to my little mans needs) |

I always think it is amazing how the pop up screen has now taken off in all of the top marques. The built in screen on the Q5 and others looks very dated. I used to love my double hump in my E90! Also the Eco/Comfort/Sport mode is very common now too. Dickie |

Think they do look better than X3 though.

I had one. Kept it for 6 months. Swapped it for a mini - was partly as wanted to save a bit on the monthlies but mainly as other than in a straight line the SQ5 was as dull as....

I most certainly would!!! Bought mine just under 2 years ago and just sold it a couple of weeks ago. As you know there is a new model soonish therefore perhaps leasing is the way to go. Having said that residuals are still very strong and demand is high. I sold mine to a trader who was selling to another trader for 76% of what I bought it for which isn't bad at all after two years. The person who was buying it will pay well over 80% of new cost or approx 8k less than I paid for it.
As with everything a few options are nice. There is a Plus model now with a little more power and some tasty options which may be worth considering. They need the 21" wheels to look best in my opinion. Great performance and the sounds, oh the sweet sweet sounds!! Last edited by davyk31; 02-21-2016 at 01:21 PM.. |

You should be able to improve on the discount mentioned in the deal above. Seems about 8 or 9%, think about 12 is possible now. Thankfully they don't attract the silly BMW level discounts and that all helps keep the residual values up. On the final guaranteed figure in the PCP deal you mentioned I reckon your car will be worth a good bit more but by that time the new SQ5 should be available thus diluting values a bit more.

I'd hit that's, yes seems good deal.
Only reservation would be a long time driving around in the 'old shape' if that gets to you?

Should be ok on a two year lease. New model Q5 likely to hit showrooms this time next year or a little later. As its new there won't be too many in the roads for a while and a new SQ5 will be at least 6 to 12 months after release of the mainstream models.

I've always liked the Q5 and I actually prefer it to the x3. I still think it looks fresh although I agree it looks dated inside now. SQ5 has pretty impressive performance and sounds great (probably fake!). It's not going to be the best round corners but if that doesn't matter, it ticks a lot of boxes if you want a fast, practical SUV.

Just make sure you drive one on a really good test drive across varied roads and conditions. It's a very accomplished car but it's no Porsche Macao in the fun & handling stakes.

But it isn't the price of a Macan either so that's the compromise for money saved.
As regards the noises, if you buy a car with Audi Drive Select, which in my view is essential on an SQ5, you can set an individual mode to have the noises but keep the engine/gearbox in regular mode thus avoiding the snatchy sport mode gear changes. Its a £200 option that most tick. Can be coded on a car without it but you do loose some functionality. |

Far too many bad experiences with Audi dealers to ever consider buying another one.
