F30 LCI?

Its the small things... Look at the E90 pre-LCI tail light cluster, the indicator particularly. Its the traditional single bulb in orange surroundings like all cars were at the time (2003). Then the LCI came along (2009) and it incorporated really cool individual LED indicator lights and BMW\'s since then rightly followed suit (F10, F25, etc...) save the X1 strangely but it was designed by some other randomer so I don\'t really care.

Looking at the F30, it has taken a step backwards as it has a single bulb in orange casing again and it just looks cheap and outdated. Oh the irony in \"Modern Line!\" I know this is a very small thing in what is, in my opinion, one of the best looking BMW\'s ever made but when your paying up to £45k on a car and on a premium brand like BMW, you should expect only the top materials. For me, this implies that a potential F30 LCI is in the works and to update it more easily, they took a step back on the 1st generation of F30. Shame :/.

Other than that, I\'m completely sold on the new 3 Series and I hope they bring the N57s to the UK shortly!!

I totally agree. Those bulbs on indicators look out of place and are not something you I would call modern. Same applies to front fog lights. Looking at those details makes one wonder if BMW's design department is out of ideas for LCI, so they have to f*** up those details. Fitting pieces couple on silver/chrome pieces to bumpers does not make it "modern". It is kind of "tape tuning" for me.

Exactly my point... Not impressed by that... Perhaps thats why they don't use the slogan "Vorsprung Durch Technik." Other than that, I love BMW!

All I'd really like to see from the F30 LCI is a reworked hood. Incormporate the kidneys into the hood ala E46 or make the cut above the chrome on the kidney's ala E90 LCI. I mean that line isn't going to stop me from buying one but I'd like to see that done away with.

"LCI" = Life Cycle Impulse, BMW's term for a model facelift

Notice that every BMW (F20, F10, F12, F01) has this style hood now. It's cheaper to manufacture and repair and I'd also guess that it has something to do with pedestrian safety. If you've ever been in even a 5 mph accident in a BMW where the hood extends to the bumper, you know that even those accidents require a new hood, while the new style will normally just require replacing the plastic bumper.

I agree that the old style looks better, but so do the even older clamshell hoods that opened towards the front. Progress, unfortunately, looks a lot like conformity.
