So I hope someone has some information or recommendation for steel rims and size for a 328 base model with the 17" style 395. Thanks in advance!
Another option are the BMW 400M 8.0"x 18" ET34 wheels. They are usually available on the used market for about $500-$600/set including TPMS.

You could even flip flop and put the winter tires on your current 17" wheels while you look for 400M wheels and in the spring get a better summer tire for the 18" wheels. I upgraded tire size from 225/45-18 to 245/40-18 with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires (see photo), but 235/45-18 is also an option.

For winter tires I'd recommend Michelin X-Ice Snow. They are amazing on black ice and snow and really grip dry cold pavement. If you live in a heavy snow/unplowed area consider Blizzak WS90

Hope this helps!

For sure. If you're going to have a set of smaller rims and a set of larger rims make the smaller the winter rims. Lower profile tires are much more susceptible to pothole damage.

I went with the Blizzak WS90! Thank you for the recommendation. Hope they get me through this winter. If it ever arrives.

WTF does the grille have to do with winter tires? Or the X7 with the F34?

FWIW (not much yet), I just bought a set of Nokian Hakapalitta 9 studded runflats and new 17" rims. Just bought my GT in September. Unfortunately, we have had but a single snowstorm so far this year and we were out of town and haven't yet driven with the new tires in any snow to speak of. I can say they are really really loud (not that I care.) I live at 8400' in the foothills in Colorado so I will get the chance Once I have I'll try to reply to this thread...

Batten down the hatches. We're getting like 6 feet of wind tonight. Maybe some snow.

FWIW I had these put on right before winter (RF's didn't have much life left) and so far I am impressed. Everything was iced up this AM and the car had more grip than expected. Hopefully they last longer than the short lived RF's.

I had Cross Climate 2s put on and they're snow eating monsters that ride and handle better than the OEM Continentals.

I’m in SLC Utah and run a dedicated set of snow tires on my 2014 F34 335xi. Bridgestone Blizzak WS80 225/45/18 square set up. Never had an issue and have been amazing.

I live in Toronto and bought Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 at the start of this winter. (225/50R18) Head north for skiing and we had a lot of snow and cold this winter. They were fantastic on dry/slush roads and very good on snow. I have used Pirelli Sottozero 3 and these are way better.
