2015 435i Gran Coupe (F36) M Sport Conversion

I bought my F36 in August 2015. At the time I thought I had found the perfect combination of what I wanted: 19s, mineral white metallic body color, black kidney grills, and the Sport Line with black side mirrors.

After a few weeks, I realized I had made a horrible horrible mistake by not opting for the M Sport package. It got to the point where I would look at cars on the forums and feel deep jealousy and regret.

Well, as of today I finally ditched the Sport Line bumpers and had my M sport kit installed. I purchased the bumper, rear bumper and side skirts from getbmwparts and found a body shop that was able to do the paint match and install.

There were a few hiccups on the way - I didn't get the lower middle mesh grill shipped as part of the package, the rear reflectors were not included. My body shop ordered them from the nearby dealer because I couldn't afford to keep my car in the shop that long. I also managed to chip the paint around the front tow hook ring when trying to install my license bracket , so I'll have to pick up some touch up paint. But overall, very satisfied with the result.

BEFORE

Right out of the dealership

Didn't look like much right out of the box

Painted and ready to go

AFTER

35% Llumar tint all around, M Sport front bumper with fog light deletes, rear bumper, side skirts, painted reflectors, and painted calipers.

Neighbor's red Lexus RC in the back

Blue calipers. Paint match on the bumper is not perfect but tough to get an exact match on the mineral white metallic.

Nice car and photos. Just remember that BMW does not offer the 3/4 M Sport in Mineral White which is unfortunate. At least your car looks M Sport and is in one of the nicest colors.

Didn't think about that - at least now I can feel better about having to get my M sport look the long/expensive way haha

Paint and install was around 2k. I'm sure it can be done for cheaper but I paid a more for a shop that I felt good about.

Congrats! Nice! In the end you got what you really wanted and that is what matters. You now have the full look of the M-Sport (which really does look great on the 4) in a color you wanted and couldn't have gotten from BMW.

For me, I wanted the black leather with red stitching. I couldn't get that on the M-Sport, so I did the same (Sport Line to M-Sport conversion) as bumper covers are easier to change than stitching throughout the interior.

Congrats! Looks great, now you just need the diffusor, and in my opinion one of the best parts of the package, the steering wheel

Looks awesome!! I love mineral white and it's a shame they don't offer it with M-Sport from the factory.

Those are also awesome wheels!

Wouldn't that be more saving if you had select the M sport package plus steering wheel and M suspension for the same cost $2000 ?

Definitely. I didn't get M Sport when I bought the car because I thought I didn't need it. I would not recommend doing what I did as I ended up spending a lot more lol.

The Sport Line actually already has the same M-Sport suspension and Sport Seats as the M-Sport Line itself. The differences (between Sport & M-Sport) are:
  • Front/Rear Bumper Covers & Side Skirts
  • Steering Wheel Design
  • Fog Light Delete
  • Gloss Black Window Trim
  • Body Color Side Mirrors
  • Additional Cooling Radiator on Driver's Side (335/435 only?)
  • Limited (and some unique) Color Choices
  • Limited Interior Colors
  • Unique Interior Accents

The biggest cost is converting the bumpers, but this has been made much more affordable on the 335 with many quality replica products available (usually about 1/4-1/3 the cost of OEM).

You can end up with a car that has the best of both worlds. The OP, for example, now has an M-Sport in Mineral White, something BMW won't let you order in the USA.

Another good point. I opted for OEM parts from getbmwparts. It's discounted from the MSRP that you would get from the dealer, but still quite a bit more than replica products. I was also considering buying a Selma kit which is much much cheaper, and from what most forumgoers have said, virtually indistinguishable.

I believe parts for the 3 series will also have more variety and a better price, since there are much more of them and this gen has been around longer.
