Hi forum. I have seen several threads skirting the exact subject, but nothing definitive. I have an F30 2015 328i x drive with the Msport package. It came with the 340mm 4 piston Brembo calipers (grey) on the front and the standard 1 piston calipers with a 330mm rotor on the back. I am upgrading the rears to some Brembo 2 piston blue calipers and the 345mm rotors I found used from a parted out 335i. Will it be necessary to do a code change on the car? If so, what should the new settings be? I appreciate all the help in advance.

Please confirm ...

- Does your vehicle have M Sport brakes as an option (probably not ...)?
- Front calipers are not changing
- Rear rotors are 330m now; changing to 345mm
- Rear calipers are 1 piston units now; changing to 2 piston blue M Sport calipers

On the surface, it's difficult to tell. M Sport brakes use 370mm rotors in the front. Even with coding to specify M Sport brakes, there is a mechanical mismatch in the front: 340mm rotors in the front vs 370mm. Rear rotors and calipers are exactly what the software wants to see.

Thanks for the reply. No the car only has the P337A msport package which came with the grey 4 piston front calipers and a 340mm rotor. It came with the single piston floating type caliper and 330mm rear rotors. That was the weak link, so I am only replacing the rears with an oem blue 2 piston Brembo/345mm rotor setup from a 335i that had the sport/performance brake package. I have seen several threads where someone did this exact thing and some coded the sport brake and some did not. It really is a hybrid since the true sport brake option has a different front caliper and 370mm front rotors. I am wondering if it is necessary to code spbr since the front setup is stock OEM and the rear isn't terribly different.

It's not necessary to code. Last week I did it on my f32, I had the single piston floating type caliper with 340mm rear rotors, and I replaced it with the blue 2 piston Brembo/345mm rear rotors, and it's perfect!
