Call Dinan, I think it is if you have EDC.

It adjusts, electronically, the shock rebound and other parameters...great reviews, I wonder how it'll stack up against a dedicated set of track oriented shocks on track?

I would have thought with today's programs it would have been open-ended where you would be able to customize to your liking and needs. From what I have read it just adds stiffness to their settings? Still cool for 399 bucks, but would have thought it would have been programmable.

They never answer, I shot an email waiting their reply, if it's more stiff then I would pass it I already have the H&R I need something better, like more comfy on comfort and real deal on sport mode as the sport mode in the F30 chassis is almost as comfort.

Not sure about H&R springs, but the Dinan springs/shockware solution is "real deal"

In terms of getting in touch with them, I think it's best to call; if you get VM, route back to the operator and ask if anyone is available to speak to.

Very compliant but fully track-able with amazing mechanical grip.

Comfort Mode
Increased compression dampening (25%?) with a slight marginal increase in rebound dampening.
I wouldn't say the new comfort setting takes on the old sport setting but it's somewhere in between.

Sport /Sport + Mode
Id say the increase in performance is exponential compared to the changes reflective in comfort mode.

Increased compression dampening (35-50%?) with a significant increase in rebound dampening.

I'd like to get out on the track soon, that's clearly were the changes will have a profound impact.

The cars perfect- Couldn't be happier.

I'm anxious to hear DVC's review/comments.
This ^^

Jetbill is an experienced track guy who absolutely knows what a well-sorted car feels like... thanks for sharing this detailed assessment.

My initial thoughts are for the most part in sync with the above; I will take a few more days driving on the set up to get a full perspective and add some additional feedback.

It's no small endeavor to get through the ECU and tweak the EDC damper settings... it wouldn't be possible without BMW's cooperation. Basically, the software update is initiated from an authorized installer (i.e. a BMW dealer) to access and prep the car's ECU, after which point a connection is established to Dinan servers to complete the software upload. (There is no means of allowing additional access to the damping parameters after the upload, and even if there was, the results of allowing a consumer to customize to their liking would probably be less than ideal, at best.)
As for the effect of the update, it's not as simple as adding stiffness to the dampers... EDC shocks have a myriad of parameters that come into play in their function, all of which drive how compression and rebound are executed in a given situation. This is what makes EDC dampers so effective: they don't need to be bone-jarringly stiff over minor road imprecations to effectively stabilize the chassis and keep the tires planted when cornering hard.

Ordering this + xDrive springs tomorrow. So excited to see how this does at the track/autocross!

Also EDC reprogramming isn't additional for AX points and won't bump me into the next class

It is not worth any points. But hey the pedals are good for a point lol. Either way this setup is PERFECT for the f30.

My thoughts in this thread.

DINAN successfully made my f30 an e90 sport+ http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=984043

No points for Shockware, but the spring kit gets you their typical suspension upgrade amount of 5 points

Figured as much. Not sure I'd add the Dinan badge if I earned it as I rebadged the day I took delivery of my F32, but between the Free flow exhaust (3 points) and likely going down the Dinan suspension path (5 points), only being 2 away puts it in the realm of possibility. For now waiting to read more reviews on the Dinan springs+shockware (specifically on Xdrive) - and anticipating another 6 month wait for a similar F32 setup from Dinan (I expect the F30 and F32 are different enough that it's not apples/apples as was the case with the free flow exhaust).

I LOL'd at your pedals comment because I looked on Dinan's site and saw the same thing. Dinan points for upgrades that aren't actually performance related is a bit crossed up to me...

Sick F30 BTW. Your car looks incredible.

If I even get the Dinan badge I'll likely install in on my lawnmower or tool drawer. Not feeling the DINAN badge screaming on the back of my car... It's bad enough how big they made it on their exhaust.

Can't wait to get the Shockware.... I believe my x-drive springs ship out Tuesday. Full review to come as I just installed my HRE Flowforms and need to post some pics of that as well.

This is an email from Dinan:

We do not currently support the 328 but it is in the works. I wouldn’t think that we are more than 30 days or so away from release.

I’ve added you to my contact list and will advise as soon as we have the Shockware available for the F30 328.

Best regards,

So if we order the $399 software does it include the flashing part onto the car or is that a separate dealer charge?
