Dinan suspension upgrade for the 328d

FYI, in case any of you are interested Dinan is not currently offering a spring set for the d, only the Shockware upgrade for the adaptive dampers. You must have DHP in your car to take on the Shockware.

Is Dinan offering anything for the 328i? I would think the suspension is identical to the 328d.

Yes, they offer the spring set for the i. This set is not applicable for the d. Accordng to Scott, the Dinan rep I spoke to today, different spring rates are required because of the heavier engine in the d. I suppose one could plow ahead anyway (pun intended) and try the springs for the i on the d. No reason it wouldn't fit. But remember the springs are closely calibrated by Dinan to work with the weight distribution of the car AND with Shockware. But maybe the difference in weight would be negligible in terms of performance of the springs.

I just checked the specs on BMWUSA.com, and it's interesting...

According to it, the 328d xDrive weighs 3620 lbs while the 328i xDrive is 3595 lbs - not much difference. The interesting part is the weight distribution: 328d is 48.7/51.3 f/r while the 328i is 51.3/48.7.

Perhaps the site is wrong (now that would be the first time), or the 328d engine is lighter but the DEF tanks in the rear tip it the other way.

I suspected the difference in weight between the d and the i was negligible. I think the issue is that Dinan just hasn't had a chance to test out a d with their spring set. It's pretty low on their priority list, and I was told that by the tech adviser I spoke to the other day. When all is said and done they may well offer the exact same springs for both cars.

I have upgraded my springs with Eibach Pro-kit Springs:

The car lowered in between 15-20 mm.
Going to use them with Bilstein B8 to improve steering.

Does your car have DHP or BMW Sport Suspension? Or is it a base model?

Just got the Shockware installed yesterday. I will report after I take a long drive this weekend. So far Comfort mode feels better than Sport mode did before, although supposedly it's just 1:1 reprogramming. The car feels smoother on the road and more planted at the same time.

Had to bring the thread back to life:

Anyone with a diesel car use Dinans Springs yet???

I just got into an F31 328dx and am tempted to pull the trigger….

On the verge of doing it. Although the price of a EDC b6 kit with the springs, bumps, dinan tuning and OEM refresh items have me leaning twords a full on air ride kit...
