Just as a bit of info.

Tasker you set profiles and activities, based on certain criteria, and tasker then runs in the background so it will do whatever you ask it to do with certain triggers (ie: messages coming in), on charge, connected to a wifi network, etc.

FWIW, I never noticed any significant ill effects on the battery life as a result of this when I used to use it.

It can be a bit trial and error when setting the profiles and things up, but if you're a bit patient and happy to dig around on google for assistance, it's great when it's all set up.

IMO it was the huge functionality potential it unlocked that spawned the whole IFTT thing.
