F30 320d engine noise compared to F10 520D

I'm currently the owner of a 520D F10 but soon to be 320D Xdrive, and I must admit whilst the engine is only a 4 cylinder its much quieter than that of the F30 320D - apparently its the same 184BHP engine but why the difference in sound? Is it down to sheer space in the 520, or sound insulation?

I assume you mean inside the car, correct?
In that case it is most definitely the sound deadening working its magic.
