The Japanese competition does have one advantage.

Nicer interiors because they are not all, or mostly all, black.

Lexus tan interiors look pretty good - MUCH better than their exteriors. And, much better than the black BMW interiors.

I don't want anything but black, gray, silver and carbon in my interior anyway (and blue and white ). IMO Really no advantages to Japanese cars over germans except for the big one: reliability, which is even slipping away from them as germans become more and more solid.

I want absolutely nothing to do with tan interiors. I've settled for them in the past and always grew to hate them.

I’ve had 5 BMWs and none had a black interior.

Everyone loves my interior... including myself... The thing I like about BMW is that they are what I call an edgey conservative style.. I look at other interiors and you can say they look dated for the times they are created... Particularly Mercedes borders the line of 1960's spaceship retro look remade for our time era to me anyways... BMW looks like a timeless classy interior which I really appreciate... Everybody's taste is different... but my taste falls in line with BMW's style....

Yah, tan interiors are not exclusive to the Japanese. Not sure if that's what OP implied but it's kind of what I interpreted.

That's odd...BMW has plenty of other interior colors. Mine is coral red, and the wife's 228i convertible has oyster. No interior issues for me after nearly 18 years of driving BMWs.

BMW's have never really been known for their nice interiors--but the way they drive!

I loved my old Coral Red 328i. Black is pretty boring in general, but CF and M colors help:

Results of the latest Consumer Reports car brand ratings:
1. Genesis
2. Audi
3. BMW
4. Lexus

Toyota is still #1 for reliability, but way down the list for owner satisfaction.

I had a 2016 IS350 and now a 2018 340i. I much prefer the interior of the 340 than I did the Lexus. But that's just my preference.

Unfortunately my work servers prevent me from being able to post pictures at the moment, but I have yet to see a Lexus, or other Japanese interior for that matter that holds a candle to my BMW's interior.

I was washing my car last week and a guy driving a new IS350 (Black on Red) came up to me and was telling me how much he loves my interior and prefers it over his own. I didn't actually want to say it, but so do I

well... I have a black interior AND a yellow Labrador retriever. LOL that really doesn't mix. This is why the dog only gets to ride in the Mazda.

Disagree. And have you ever tried using Lexus's mouse control to run their infotainment system? It makes you want to drive off a bridge.

I can't tell from the available photos, is there coverage for the left door?

Also, it's not just the contact areas that needs protection. My lab sheds so much that his fur just floats to all areas of my car such as the headliner etc.

Yeah it covers both doors here's a picture. You can have it in the hammock position or down like this. I keep it down when the dogs aren't in there so I can just throw things on the back seat and not worry about it.

Shitty service the pic won't upload will post later
