Advice - Removing Rear Axle

Hi All

Just wanting some advice on how to remove the rear axle on my 420d b47 as I need to replace the seal on the diff as it’s leaking

I believe the input or output seals can be replaced without removing the axle from the vehicle.
I’m sure there are many videos in the internet showing how to do that.

You may not have to remove the dif, but you must remove the axle(s) and/or the driveshaft to change the seals.

Thanks for the comments so far, what I was really asking was is it easier to remove control arms to get the axle out to get to the seal?

Not clear if this is entirely necessary, but the TIS shows dif being removed to change the side seals. It also says "if necessary" remove the tension struts. The tension struts are the long slender members that from a "V" and connect the dif to the chassis forward on the rear wheels. No mention of removing other suspension pieces.
