Side vent - I don't think they are functional on any 3/4 Series other than the Ms. Fog lights - I presume that you have the Track Pack. Foglights are eliminated for additional cooling with that package. It is well documented in the order guide. Mirror folding - I think auto-folding has always been a coding thing for US BMWs. Roof handles - Again, never on the 4er. Small panel - Always replaced with switches for options that you now have on the 4er that you must not have had on the 3er (i.e. HUD). HUD - No HUD on any vehicle is visible with polarized sunglasses. This has been understand by most of us for a long time, certainly since my first BMW HUD way back in 2004.

the only thing I agree with is the vent. from my understanding, the function was to create an air curtain and help with gas mileage. it makes more sense on the //m since it's up by the side mirrors, but the regular 4 series vents did seem kind of low for that sort of function. regardless, it looks better with an actual hole. nobody likes fake vents, and they actually changed to a fake vent for the LCI. I can't imagine why it would make sense to go through new tooling and manufacturing to change that. Maybe from people complaining about stuff getting stuck in it.

Driving the 440i LCI
It drives excellent. I opted for the Adaptive M Suspension and find it to be awesome. I had the 2013 335is (E92) and the suspension was always hard. In this when I approach a speed bump I select "Comfort" setting and it goes over it like a Cadillac (a bit of an exaggeration). In Sport/Sport+ the handling is tight and complaint and great exhaust sound (with MPPSK option). The handling is great and it is fun to drive (it is a manual - 6 sp), compare to the 335is (which was twin-clutch).

I guess I was hoping for the same options and then some, so it is a bit of a let down. I guess due to the weaker Euro they had to cut cost in order to make a profit. |

Is it just me, or is the only real upgrade on the LCI 440 GC the LED tail-lights?

Have there been any more insights by how much the suspension and steering improved from the 2017 to the 2018 LCI RWD each with M Sport?
I am in the market for a CPO and there are many more 2017 models available which are better specced and about five grand less. I am wondering if the differences are rather minimal or would justify the 20% premium. |

I had a 2013 435i coupe for 2 years before upgrading to a 2018 440i LCI coupe. I can definitely say the suspension is more compliant on rougher roads and feels smoother on the highway. It's not a night and day difference, but noticeable. I can't say what the differences would be like on track as I've never tracked either. But the ride is definitely better. B58 is a gem too! |
