I have the AA highflow catted DP. I have had it about a year. I enjoy the sound on my stock exhaust and the improved performance. It is just enough louder than stock for my tastes.

I have just recently started get the CEL for catalyst efficiency. I will clear it and it will come back after a few days.

I do not run any burbles.

I reached out to AA and they have been great. They said just ship it back to them and they will replace the cat free of charge. I have to pay shipping to them, but they pay shipping back. They say to expect a 1 day turnaround time once it's received.

I am still pleased with my purchase as I was able to pass my obd2 emissions check a few months back.

Once I have the time to remove it and ship it back, I will report back on the experience.

What are your thoughts on the CTS Turbo catted downpipe? It is like half the price of the CG Precision one. Anyone know if it throws a CEL? What about the (new?) VRSF? It looks like VRSF doesn't have the extra downpipe brace that the others have.
Probably the VRSF catless downpipe, or if you want to be fancy get the high-flow catted one.

Just a thought

Thanks for posting that video. When listening, I thought I could perceive the difference in the intensity of sound when comparing the two. There are a couple of things to consider with this experiment

1) you did not measure or keep a consistent distance between the comparisons
2) decibels are given on a logarithmic scale, so small changes can equal fairly large results.

I am aware of all the factors influencing an exhaust video; mic quality/type, distance/orientation relative to exhaust, acoustics from the environment, video/palyback quality, speaker quality, etc. This is why i always say trying to gather how an exhaust is going to sound based on a video is not a great idea given.

But to answer your question, the first two before/after videos were filmed with the same phone at basically the same distance/orientation relative to the exhaust so i considered the factors above to the extent possible. dB readings were from the same phone. Yes, i know its logarithmic. The bottom line is that OEM DP to fabspeed with no change in exhaust is almost negligible given how much the stock exhaust mutes everything. The resonator delete is what made the real difference. The final video was filmed with a different mic (GoPro hero8), different orientation, engine under load, etc.

Since you are adding a flash tune, any good catted downpipe will do the work since the tune handles the CEL.

If you want a US-built downpipe with unmatched finish quality, get the Evolution Racewerks downpipe

If you are looking for the best value catted downpipe, check out CTS Turbo
That’s 4 - but this is solid advice here.

You have a very high chance of getting a CEL with all the other brands.

If your car is not tuned with bm3, I recommend you get one of the three brands mentioned. It won't matter which one.
I'm looking at the CG Precision. Your store says it'll be available next month.

No CEL guarantee is nice, but will any of these pass a Georgia emissions test? If that means removing it once a year and putting the stock one back in, forget it.

AA is technically the only one that is EPA (49-state) legal. So if you want to be totally legit, get that one.

The others listed guarantee no CEL and should get the emission monitor ready, but in theory can technically still fail a visual inspection (very unlikely). I've been running fabspeed for 2 years and have never gotten a CEL and my emission monitor is ready. Same should be true for CG.

Thx, there's no visual inspection here, just OBD check and tailpipe sniffer.

+1 no downpipe is legal in CA as it needs Carb approval not just EPA

I have had the Fabspeed HJS catted downpipe for 3+ years and recently passed emissions in NJ with no issues NJ is a tough emissions state. They have video cameras underneath to get a visual but they drive by so quick I don't know how they could possibly spot a Downpipe up where it's located. I ceramic coated my Fabspeed in black so it blends in with the shadows too. NJ also checks by plugging in the OBD port under the dash. Passed easily.

im not worried on the visual inspection. I just dont want remove and reinstall every two years. Interested in a high flow catted DP and possibly bungs on the sensors so it gets less of a reading. Has anyone tried this or have recommendations on catted dp with bungs?

Don't run minicats, O2 spacers, etc.

Get a DP that basses OBD2 check like fabspeed or AA. The only thing you have to worry about is the visual, which i also wouldn't stress about if you can pass the OBD check. Note that in CA you also need to be on 100% OEM DME software when you go in due to CalID/CVN checks.

Ahhh I see. So dp that pass obd so it doesn't throw CEL without JB4 installed. Got it thanks.

Correct, if the DP passes OBD check (getting monitors "ready") then it will not throw a CEL.

The opposite is not necessarily true - it is possible to not throw a CEL, but also not get emission monitor ready.

I have been running fabspeed for more than 2 years and no CEL ever and emission monitors are ready. AA should be the same.
