Was able to carve out some time to install a replacement lip after an unfortunate run in with part of a semi truck tire on the freeway. Suvneer was out of stock, so went the eBay route. Fitment was not nearly as good. Was able to make a few adjustments to make it work.

How was your experience going from a G20 back to a F30? Curious your thoughts.
PS - I also feel your pain, mine was a mid 2020 COVID purchase and I searched exhaustively (obsessively) from east coast out to Chicago for a manual 440i everyday after I logged out of work. Had a local 440i 6MT xDrive slip away from me after I was mulling over it too long as there was some inexplicable paint rework in a quarter panel and then almost gave up but some weeks later I came across the one I have now as a dealer manager/demo car with 3 years left still on the factory warranty. I put a nominal deposit on it sight unseen and chanced it. It then all happened so fast I was getting nervous that I rushed it and making a financial mistake, but no regrets 3 years later. |

With the G20, I should have gone with the adaptive suspension. The standard was brutal and I regretted not getting adaptive each time I drove it. I enjoyed the tech in the G20 and this may sound strange, but I love the analog gauges in the F30. With that said, my little 6.5 screen will need some love eventually. So glad to hear that you found what you were looking for and that you are still happy with the purchase. I hope I am in the same boat down the road.

Amen to the analog gauges. I see people upgrading their F30s to a digital cluster and I totally feel the opposite.
I actually don't mind the tiny 6inch screen either. I have so many fucking screens in my life it's nice to have my car be one of the few places where there isn't one. And what do I use it for anyways? Just selecting Bluetooth audio and checking error codes. |

do cops in WA not care about no front plate? i'm trying to figure out if i'll need to rock a front plate there or not. the information on the internet seems to both say no and yes.

Good question. It’s definitely a risk, but they have not bothered me or my wife (Tesla). I have a very short and repeated commute so I don’t really open myself up to too much exposure here.

It has been great! Very happy with the ride. So good that my wife does not complain or even notice which is a huge plus.

A couple of fairly recent updates. I just hit 27.5k miles and that is where it will be for a while. Me and my family are relocating to another country for work for about 5 years. Decided to keep the car for a couple reasons. I’ll be back a couple times a year and would like to have a car for the convenience. And with the time it took to track down this damn car last year, it seems like a waste to just sell it.
Anyway, added a CTS high flow down pipe and updated to stage 2. Not a noticeable difference honestly, but definitely louder. Fairly easy install, but now my mid pipe is not lining up with the previous bolt location and there is an occasional rattle or clunk. Curious if anyone else ever experienced this.

beautiful build so far. you make me want to do the same to my 340. How do you like the ST coilovers? I heard they are owned by KW. Should the same quality be expected?

Appreciate it! After one year I have no complaints with the ST coils. The main reason I went with them was the association with KW.

Did you do the downpipe install yourself? If so, how long did it take you .. roughly?

ST build quality is same as KW but not the material quality, that's where you get the savings. For example, ST coils are made with galvanized steel. my assumption is if you live somewhere where corrosion would be an issue, ST may not outlast a similar pair of KW coilovers. But in short, ride quality shouldn't be impacted by going ST.

I did. The whole process was about 2 hours. There are so many good YouTube video installs that really helped me through the process.
