Lightbulb BMW 4 Series Coupe Concept (F32) vs 3 Series Coupe (E92) Visually Compared

Here are some side-by-side comparisons of the just revealed F32 BMW 4 Series Concept Coupe [full details and photos] against the E92 3 Series Coupe (LCI). The 4 Series Coupe will replace the 3 Series Coupe as BMW's mid-size sports coupe in its lineup.

Keep in mind that we are comparing a concept against a production model, but nonetheless the general styling, shape, and dimensions of the 4 Series Coupe Concept will carry over to the production model. The more conceptually styled elements such as the bumpers, mirrors, fender vents, and wheels will look different on the production model.

Look for the 4 Series Coupe Concept to debut in January at the 2013 Detroit auto show and production to begin in July 2013, for late summer delivery.

i'm liking the wider track, led headlamps and interior a lot. Here's hoping with some better equipment to go with that high price.

Think we'll get the full black panel display on this one?

The tail lights and bumper/exhausts have got to change (sadly) to have it in BMW style but my god that looks so good. If they can make pornography like that, why the hell have they gone ahead with the ghastly, sick-making 3GT?

I love how it looks from the rear, I always thought that was the visual weak point of the e92. I'd be surprised if that exhaust makes it to production though.

Love the exterior of the f32 but the e92 interior is far better, more logical and a much nicer place to be IMO

funny how a new model makes the old car look instantly dated in comparison, even if it is pretty good looking on in its own right. If I am a coupe owner, I would trade in.

but just as with sedan, the interior of E9x is much much nicer and more modern looking.

I'm really not fond of the e92 lci for the front, and these comparisons really show how much better the f32 really is. Love this new design.

Oh yeah this car looks just like the E92 all around.... NOT

As far as the interior goes, I like both, each has their own distinctive aura to it.

It's almost an unfair comparison. This f32 "concept 4 series" is no doubt aesthetically superior in every shape, form and angle than the e92. And the e92 is/was a gorgeous BMW!

The f32 has so much potential. Let's hope we get some of this in the production version.

I wonder if we can get a head start on some f30 LCI photoshops from this f32 concept reveal.

Just look at that! Worlds apart!

There goes the e92 re-sale value.

I think the little vents/spoilers (whatever they are) on the side mirrors are interesting!

This actually looks too aggressive to be a regular 4 series coupe.

I think the styling is too overwrought... it reminds me of the over the top styling of the Mitsubishi EVO
