Spied: BMW 428i Coupe Test Mule
Yesterday, we brought you photos of the 4 Series Coupe M Sport in testing, and to that we now add photos of the 428i prototype in FEP stage of testing.
The 428i Coupe and Convertible will be powered by the same 2.0L twin turbo inline 4 (N20 engine) as the F30. The N20 engine has just been named one of the 10 best engines by the 2013 Ward's 10 Best Engines List. The F32 4 Series coupe production begins July 2013 for deliveries starting late summer - early Fall of 2013. Catch all our BMW 4 Series coverage/updates @ http://www.bimmerpost.com/4-series/

How much time was there between the F30 FEP spy pics and official introduction?
Maybe that could be an indication on when the 4 series coupe will be anounced. |

4 Series coupe production begins in July and deliveries start late Summer - early Fall, so look for official introduction/reveal for it to come in the Spring-Summer 2013. Just a few months away.

Slightly disappointing. M concept translated to the product models pretty spot on. I didn't expect that crazy bumper wheels or interior from the concept the make it but am highly disappointed the headlights did not with the broken off inner corona ring to the grill! Moreover the concept looked much wider and more athletic... hope final car won't just be a "2-door 3" since they gave it a new name!

FYI: Those covered up taillights are already LED, just no dotted break lights. |

We are in 2012, 4 series will be released in 2013, so I would expect newer technology than outgoing 3 Coupe had in 2006. Looking at spy photos, it will have same tail light technology as 3 Coupe in 2006 and older than 3 Coupe in 2010.

That black 428 looks like it has the led tail lights but not the red 435/440 so it must be part of a full LED option like with the 6 series... am I right anyone?

Im sure 4 will be great car, but Im disappointed that small details like full LED tail lights are missing and that makes car less special and premium. |
