I can tell you that the new N63Tu 550i engine will have 480 HP. Don't ask me how I know that.

But here's some evidence that may add some confidence. This, I believe, is the first E92 M3 ever built: VIN WBSWD910X0PY29000 Type code WD91 Type M3 (EUR) E series E92 (M3) Series 3 Type COUPE Steering LL Doors 2 Engine S65 Displacement 4.00 Power 309 Drive HECK Transmission MECH Colour SCHWARZ 2 (668) Upholstery LEDER NOVILLO/SCHWARZ (NCSW) Prod.date 2006-07-11 (SOP for this model was June 2007.) And this is the first 335i (an E92). VIN WBAWB71020PG13000 Type code WB71 Type 335I (EUR) E series E92 () Series 3 Type COUPE Steering LL Doors 2 Engine N54 Displacement 3.00 Power 225 Drive HECK Transmission MECH Colour SPACEGRAU METALLIC (A52) Upholstery LEDER DAKOTA/SCHWARZ (LCSW) Prod.date 2005-11-14 (SOP for this model was June 2006.) The 3 series coupe, including the M3,have always been built at the Regensburg plant in Germany. They don't manufacture them at any other plants.

Agree, but it could still be the N55 yet in a different state of tune. The 640, for instance, has a 315hp version of the N55 if memory serves. I figure, at least, they'll be putting that into the 3/4 series as soon as they get it certified.

^^+1. Regensburg produces the M3 (in e90, e92, e93), Z4, F30, F32(coupe) and F20 (4 door hatch). It is a mixed production. I was there just last week. Munich only produces the F30 and F31(wagon).

Guys the N55 is the best engine in each class up to the 435i. I have no idea how one could make this engine any better. If power is the issue there is the available power pack.

Now, the next step would be to prove that this information appeared in that database back in 2005 and 2007 exactly as you've shown here. In other words, how do we know the data was not fudged when originally entered and then changed later on to reflect reality? Quote:
Putting aside my hesitation for a moment, I have to wonder why this resource has not been exploited for these purposes (obtaining "leaked" info) in the past. Or maybe it had been, but I just didn't know about it. I've never seen reference to it until this past week. Has this data only recently been available publicly? |

Do they still have the display room for some of the individual color cars they have just made when you exit the tour? |

But, assuming you are serious, I will assume you know what you are talking about. In fact, let's see now if this database shows us a 480hp 550i. If it really is the all knowing oracle (pun intended for you IT folks) we are hoping it should be able to show us the truth. Again, that is, assuming you are not pulling our legs here, or perhaps suggesting that that engine is underrated by BMW. |

Track hounds have all the ///M cars they can afford, but regular traffic? 450+ hp? Give me a break! EDIT: yes, buying E92 N55 car to drive here was total insanity (and stupidity, with hindsight). I would not do it again if I could get back in the past. EDIT2: Yes, I do track my car without mercy. That doesn't solve the problem of the the remaining 99.9% miles on that car's ODO.
