Did I mention that this car CRUSHES the f30 in the looks department?
Talk about cannibalizing your own sales.

Wow. This release proves that the reason I can't get a 3 wagon w/6MT is NOT because "it costs BMW a lot of money to US certify a power train". It's because they just don't want to. If they have money to make a whole new line with unknown sales figures, then I should be able to get a RWD 6MT touring that already exists in Europe.
BMWAG: kill the 3 sedan and just do this 4 GC. Much better looking but save the money for a high end super car beyond the i8, a new Z8!

Automatic trunk opening and closing with foot kick comfort access!!!
My worst pet peeve of my F30 is how I have to slam the trunk closed, everyday. Just last week, I had to shut it so hard, the rear license plate fell off! |

This car does look very good. Better than the 3.
I love the proportions, I think the shorter trunk looks good. Quote:
Do you really think BMW has the restraint to NOT produce a m4 GC? Execs say a lot of things. Last edited by LDSM; 02-01-2014 at 07:55 PM.. |

How is it that BMW went from nobody would by a hatchback/wagon to every other car be introduced is now a hatchback? I get why Europe likes hatchbacks but why not just call this a 4GT since it is similar to the 3GT and build a true GC for the US?

WTF happened here BMW?
You had the recipe right, you make a boxy 3er/5er and then you make a sexy 4er/6er and then you make an even more sexy 4er GC/6er GC and then a **** me gorgeous M4 GC/M6 GC. The 6er GC is not a hatch back, whyTF is the 4er GC? Idiots!

However, I think it looks amazing. I expected the 3GT to look more like this and the 4GC to be more like the pic above (a la 6GC). People will still buy the 3-series, but the 3GT.... |

Looks great, but a 4GC with a GT style opening for the boot? I'm confused now.

The car looks great but add my voice to the few here wishing for a manual transmission. As much as I like this car, no manual means no sale to me. An M version would be awesome. Maybe they change their minds on that.

A lot of people are asking this question. IMO, it's another way for BMW to increase it's sales - this is the tipping scale marketing method to get customers to shell out a little more money for the "cooler, sleeker" 4-series gran coupe. It's intended market is towards those who will "tilt" to pay the extra cash for a 4-door mid-size sedan.
It's rather genius.

Its for other vehicles to have direct competitors i.e. the A5 sport back. Unfortunately, as I stated in my previous comment, I feel like this is exactly what the 3GT should be. It is attractive, sporty, and does not appear crossover-y much like the heavier appearing 3GT. The big difference between the 3GT and this I believe is available cargo room. This has no more room than a regular 3 Series in the boot, and less space in the cabin area. With sales always climbing, I'm sure the production and marketing department know what they're doing with the release of a 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and their respective GTs, GCs, and ///M performance editions. |
