The 4GC Photoshop that you posted is what BMW should have built (including an M version).

This is an incredibly good looking car from BMW with three fatal flaws imho -
1. No 435GC AWD (although the press release language leads me to believe that one will be added sometime after initial introduction) 2. No sunroof (not even a tilt-up one like the 6GC) 3. No manual transmission.

I don't see the need for this car AND a regular 3 series now. BMW's lineup is just getting too congested in the down market space. The 6 gran coupe has a place... competing with the likes of a panamera and such... 4 seats but sloped roof, less cargo, etc. But 4 GC just seems like another 3. GC competitors down market? The CLA? I guess? But I'm thinking it'll simply spread sales more thinly over more models... can't see a 4 GC opening up new markets.
That said - the car looks nice. |

So it says they will come standard with the 8-speed auto, but I don't see anywhere that it explicitly states there will be no manual, and one of the pictures shows a manual, what is the word on this? It looks nice, but this would be a deal breaker.

Jason, can you please confirm availability of manual transmission options for the US market on the 4GC, for both the 428i and 435i RWD and xDrive? I am assuming the transmission offerings for the US market will be similar to the 4 series coupe, correct? Thanks. PS: I'm holding my breath until you provide us with an update. GULP. |

NO WAY does that remote controlled trunk down function make it to the US.
