Looking for the best combo of safety and value when it comes to getting my F30 off the ground to work under.

Already have a floor jack for the lifting part of the equation. And ramps for jobs where I dont need to remove the wheels.

The obvious answer is buying a set of Esco 10499 but at $60 a pop, thats quite an investment.

Was wondering what other solutions are out there for less than $60 per corner?

Of course... working with the plastic rectangle BMW lifting points is the most important part of my decision.

To get the Esco set it would be $255 all in. Seems like a lot.

My solution to the jacking point problem was to buy four of the adapters (those plastic hockey pucks with the ridge to fit into the rectangle jacking points), and then use silicone glue to glue them into the lifting points. I checked, you can pry them back out if you need to.
For the undercarriage jacking points, I put a board or wood block on top of my floor jack and/or jack stand.
Hope this helps!

I also use the wood block method as well

I've been using these which sit nicely on top of the jack stands. They do eventually break apart if they are used repeatedly to support the car for long periods, but at $5 each it's hard to find a better solution.

Jvac Do the ones you recommended fit inside the mounting jacks? I like the way they fit snug on a generic jack stand.

What do you guys think of a two pair of these?

They look like the black plastic rectangle would sit nicely within the landing pad.

I use a hockey puck on my jack for the undercarriage jack points. I recently bit the bullet and got the esco's which are nice. Before that I ended cutting and modifying jack pads to fit in the cradle of standard jack stands ( I can upload pictures when I get home). there are a few youtube videos of people who modified standard jack stands to fit in the jack points but apparently the weight is actually supposed to be dispersed on the plastic surround of the jack point, not the inside part. Which is why I run my esco's without a jack pad adapter.

Unfortunately, no. I haven't been able to find any that do. These are slightly longer and wider than the vehicle's jack pads, which rest on top of them. It's not a perfect solution, but still more secure than the bare jack stand. I've never felt like there was any danger of the car slipping off.

This is what you don't want. You need the weight to be on the square surround not inside. The rectangle insert is just to help keep everything lined up and stop it from sliding out...Or so I have been told. Here is a picture of how I jerryrigged the other stands. You're going to need a table saw or something similar to cut out the bottom of the puck

I use those TORIN jacks with aluminum pads. Very sturdy.
The Amazon listing has a review where someone shows photos of the puck on the jack. Before that I had drawn some stuff to scale with the dimensions of both and could confirm they fit, but that photo was proof proof.

That would explain why all the adapters I've found look like the ones I linked. Thanks.

I've heard of them but never used them. I think most people interested in this kind of solution migrated to QuickJacks.

$255 for 4x bombproof Escos seems pretty cheap, as opposed to being crushed by a jerry-rigged Harbor Freight solution.

Went with four bombproof Torin T43004 jack stands for $130 total.

Seeing Logicoeur 's car posted up on them sold me.

The delta people don't usually realize is that 1x Esco jackstand is rated for 3 tons (6000lbs).

Those Torins are rated as a working pair for the same capacity.

Hence the Esco is just that liiiiittle more peace of mind.

But hey, $100 is $100.

You're maybe talking about rennstands by safe jack? I liked the idea but they're selling for 139 each.

I mean our cars are around 4000lbs wet aren't they? Why would we need 6x the capacity? I think 3x the curb weight is sufficient for DIYs.

Yes, those! I have some bottle jacks but they're too tall for my cars.

But I guess I'll stick with what I have for now unless the Rennstands come with a buy one get one deal.

If one fails or pops out for any reason, you still have a fighting chance with the other while you're underneath.

Just extra margin of safety, and whether that's worth an extra $100 to you is the question.

That's not how physics works though.

With any post jack if one fails or is moved out of the support position the weight will no longer be supported on that corner. The car will tip in that direction no matter the load rating of the other posts. Your grasping for straws here.
