Costco Fuel

Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone has or is using Costco fuel? They've recently added a fuel station to my local store and their premium Diesel is 23p a litre cheaper than Shell V-Power. I've read up on it on their website and it seems to have all of the additives etc in it so wondered if it was worth giving it a whirl for the £50 a month savings on offer. I know it's very popular in the USA

I always fill up at Costco, it's only 3-5p a litre cheaper than other general diesel prices, but over a year, with the mileage I do, I think it's worth it.
Never had any issues with running. Although, I've never run any Optimax Diesel through my car.....

Wowsers that's a huge difference! Have been using Shell vpower myself which seems great but at that price....might be hard to resist! Looks like 97 octane for premium petrol, don't suppose you noticed the cost?

My local Costco opened a fuel station around a year ago, and at first the savings for their premium diesel against Tesco's (across the road) standard diesel were around 5-7p per litre

Last I was in, the prices were identical, so not sure if the savings were a bit of a gimmick to get folk using Costco. That said, I'm happy to pay the same price for Costco diesel and will try and fill there when I can.

If your local Shell V-Power is 23p per litre more expensive, then to me, Costco is a no-brainer

The premium at Costco was 123p the last time I was there compared with shell vpower at around 140p.

17p a litre is about £9 a tank (I thjnk). I could save about £500 a year if I constantly used premium but normally just a half tank treat once per week.

I've never heard or had any complaints with Costco fuel. I pass there at least once per week so should take advantage of the savings as it's even a little cheaper than the standard diesel I normally use

Costco will be buying their fuel in from one of the refiners, so the fuel is likely to be the same.

They will add their own additive package though to keep the base price down.

I know that our local Costco in the morning is full of London cabbie filling up.

In essence if the cabbie are using it’s the cheapest. Lots of cabbies also seem to get their tyres done at Costco.

I have used it, it seems like a good drop of gear.

Thanks All, I will give it a go then. My Local Shell is currently 146.9 for V-Power and Costco is selling their Premium Diesel at 123.8 which is way lower than even the supermarkets. It's likely that it's low to get people into the buying habit but happy to take advantage of it whilst it lasts

The price will probably creep up slowly over the next 6-8 months but only to supermarket levels

For that price you'll be getting a premium product so it still makes sense

I don't believe that Costco has the infrastructure to be doing this, if anything they'll be buying a spec which keeps costs down. My previous employer supplied to Morrison's, Sainsbury's and Tesco with a similar set up.

It's also entirely possible that Costco will sell the fuel at a lot lower margin than the equivalent BP, Shell, Esso etc.

Give's some good info on their website about the fuel and additives they put into their Kirkland signature fuel

I've used it in my wife's car (incidentally from Costco Leicester) a couple of times and it's been fine. Good price saving and if you happen to be close by (or at Costco anyway) then it's all good.
