I have read the PDS many times - and I am talking from direct experience I have with GIO right now. Have you had experienece with this?

The problem is the part of the PDS quoted above.
Reasonable - what does this mean? From my point of view using an Audi authorised repairer is reasonable, from GIO point of view the cheaper quote is more reasonable.

I expected that I could choose my repairer and get an Audi authorised one to perform the repair without additional costs. The Assessor did not understand that he could pay me "their reasonable" repair costs if I want to use my preferred repairer.

I am onto them and I am not going out without a fight.

Dont bother with GIO nor AAMI.
Had such a hassle with GIO on my claim on previous car and it wasnt even my fault.. even then they didnt like me going to my own repairer...

think its in court now..

Just stick with ones that your local recommended smash repairer recommends.
Mine recommends NRMA and have changed all my insurances to them.

Same thing as your TV, fridge, washing machine, etc. They are no longer built to last.

I've just rang AAMI and told them about my experience with CAPITAL SMART & the smartass (BRADLEY).
CAPITAL SMART doesnt open on weekends so AAMI will call me back next week.
Let's hope AAMI sort this out to my satisfaction so they can keep their business.
Will keep you guys updated with my claim.
Thanks guys for the help so far, will need more if I need...
Cheers

For RACV do u get to pick ur own repairer coz the more I see this topic being discussed it seems that majority of insurance policies requires to compare quotes and they pick who will do the repairs.

Can't we just throw it back to BmW own workshops?

Depends on your policy, which is why I picked one I knew it would never be an issue for me if I unfortunately had a claim.

Guys you get what you pay for. If you want to pay peanuts expect to get monkeys. I am an insurance broker and wouldn't go anywhere near GIO or AAMI. I took the top of the range BMW Insurance and haven't looked back have had it for years. They only use BMW specialist repairers claims service is amazing etc, etc.

AAMI is truly one of the worst insurers out there. My old man had terrible experiences with them and switched to GIO afterwards.

Personally I can vouch for Allianz. They will let you chose your repairer with no questions asked.

I've recently switched over to CGU and their PDS also says you can choose own repairer with no disclaimer to say they get final say.
