Curb Rash

I try to keep a good distance away from the curb each time I parallel park but sometimes when you're in a rush and you need to park closer, it happens.

2nd time it's happened to me in the course of 6 months.

I wonder how often does it happen to others, do you bother repairing it each time?

Once in almost 4 years on this car. Don't you have the reverse auto dip mirror? Id curb mine every time if it weren't for this feature.

Yep, I do. Sometimes it's hard to judge the distance, especially in a rush.

Wow, $700 that's a quite a bit. I had it done for around $100 but turned out terrible, so had it redone at a professional for around $200 and the finish is pretty good, close to how it looked originally.

I had mine done at BMW and even though they outsource it the bill only came to $150. Benefits included loan car and backed by BMW warranty for the work done.

Not in my F30 I haven't, although when BMW trucked my vehicle back after a steering column recall, the transport company guttered the whole back left hand rim and left it and said nothing... needless to say after weeks of jumping up and down, BMW put a brand new rim on it for me...

Was covered when I claimed mine for the first time earlier this month. Wifey misjudged a narrow car park exit and damaged the outside of the wheel rim.

Looks good as new after a trip to the Alloy Doctor and it didn't cost a cent Tyres and wheels have different claim limits per policy year, and a repair is the way to go where possible so you don't eat up your limit for the year.

Buying another policy for the new X1 we pick up for the wife tomorrow

So far, so good with the F30, but I did the left hand rear on the M3 and the 540 in previous lives, both while coming off roundabouts too fast and too tight! I had the 540 wheel repaired (for $80 if I remember correctly) and BMW fixed (for free) the M3 when they seriously curbed the left right when the tyres were replaced during a service.

The luxury line wheels looks like it would be pain to clean with so many spokes, Used to have the modern line wheels and they were hard to clean.

I remember the first time, I saw the price on BMW's site... 7000!! In the end, I decided to buy it anyway.

I did it a couple of times in my last F30, touch wood, nothing to report on the latest one though.

For anyone in Sydney, I can highly recommend the work of Virgin Wheels out at Doonside.

BMarmy, I have a luxury line wheel which I am happy to give to you if you want it. It does have a bit of rash which would cost around $150 to repair, a new wheel is around $900 so a cheap spare maybe?

Let me know if you'd like it and I will send it to you, it's just sitting in my shed in a box.

Offer is also open to anyone who has a luxury line as well.

Did you pay the full price? The same set of 4 wheels in the USA cost US $ 3000 but excluding tyres.

I had to pay the full price. Not many overseas sellers would ship to Australia due to the size & weight of the packages. BMR was out of stock at the time, so minus the tyres, the rim was around $5000.

Where I come from my friend give means give

Send me your daytime delivery address and I will have a courier deliver it to you.

It may take me a couple of days to get it out and if you take out to old mate at Virgin Wheels he will sort it for you.

Sorry for the thread jack Knightsabers!
