Kinda missing my 2009 e90

I have had a 2018 440i coupe m sport for the past 10 months. Overall it is a great car and I am really enjoying the engine, transmission, and the amenities. It is much nicer than my old car was. All that being said, I kind of miss the old car and think it was way more fun to drive.

Old car was a 2009 e90 328i m sport with also that extra package that changed the suspension to make it even lower and drive differently from the normal sports and m sports. It was just way more enjoyable to drive. The steering and handling was just so much better in that car compared to the new one. Even though it was slower, I just miss the way it felt when turning and that weight of the steering wheel. I also enjoyed how it was smaller. Had that car for 8 years.

Anyone know what I can do to change the car to make it feel better or is it just not possible with this new chassis. Would I have to change to a two series or does BMW just not make cars like that anymore. I have not tried the m2, and may go test drive one this weekend, but am also open to changing to a different car brand.

I got into this car at a 34k price point and really thought I would drive it for at least 2-3 years. With this crazy used market it is kinda tough to get good deals on 2-3 year old depreciated cars. Anyone else feel the same way as me? Any ideas or advice?

I miss my e46 for much the same reason. My 340i xD 6-spd feels more like a Buick than bmw.

I'm also looking into a 2-series--want something smaller, nimbler, more tossable.

I feel blessed to still have my e90. Handles like it’s on rails compared to the f36 but to be fair, the e90 is lowered but IMHO looks better than my f36. Interior, different story as the f3x interior is much more refined and more appealing compared to the e9x.

Upgrade your suspension with coilovers but since you might test drive a M2, I’ll expect a Monday morning thread from you saying the M2 happened.

You'd have to make similar mods to this car to get a similar feel. Pretty simple to understand.

I know I agree with you. I was thinking of doing the m sport suspension, but I am just worried that would not fix the problem and I would be throwing away money. I am not sure if this car is capable of being changed enough. Like the steering feel is not fixable.

The M240i is the one you probably would have preferred.

I've been meaning to eventually do the Dinan shockware on my car.

Is yours RWD or AWD?

Do check out G20 M340i too, it handles better than F30 for sure.
