I am confused with our grilles

We had a coding day in SoCal today and found something interesting.

Did stock grille came in two different style?

At first, I thought this had something to do with M Performance grille vs. stock grille, but as you can see on the 3rd pic, stock grille had same shape as M performance grille.

I find 2nd and 3rd style grille is more appealing than the first pic style.

You can order #2, which I did, for about $100. It's by far the best of the three IMO.

I get that, but still didn't answer my question.

I am about to order my M performance grille, and I want to make sure that I get that style over standard style.

#2 is the m performance grille. If it's black, it's the correct one.

If you get the M performance grille (#2), you can make it look like #3 if you like. The grill slats are clipped to the surround. #3 may have been a sport line with new bumper, or maybe he just mixed and matched the grill pieces.

When the M-Sport F30s were first introduced in the US, they came with the standard grille. A bit later, they came with the Sport Line grille. I'm not sure the reasoning behind why and who got what.

If you play with the configuration tool on BMWusa.com you will see that the M-sport has the narrowly spaced grill slats in black like the no-line model, not the fatter and more widely spaced slats of the Sport Line.

Let me make this clear a bit.

1. 328i M package (stock grille)
2. 335i M package (M performance grille)
3. 335i M package (stock grille)

Mine was build same month as pic #3 car (M package with stock grille), but mine came standard grille, and his came with Sport Line grille.

This is still confusing... but at least I know that there is differences between standard grille and sport line grille.

Thanks!

#3 grille comes with Sport Line and M-Sport. #1 is a base model, no line grille, it should not come with M-Sport or Sport line. You have a legit claim.

...and I won't even get into the fact that ALL of our cars were equipped with different front/rear brakes. No two cars were alike, and all were M-Sport cars with the exception of Frogman's (..and it was a mixture of 335i and 328i variants). My 2014 came equipped with what looks to be the grey version of the M-Performance brakes up front (..same caliper and BMW logo), and different brakes in the rear with a BMW logo. My brakes were easily the biggest/most robust of all of the F30 3-series cars at the meet.

Mine is the car in pic #3. hansolo1019 and I do have the same build date of June 2013. Mine is an SA build but it'd be interesting to confirm if his is Munich build.

This is all stock coming from the factory with no VPC installs or mods?

Pics if you don't mind and have a chance to get some perhaps!

Yep! It looks to be the same caliper as the M Performance option, except it has a "BMW" logo rather than an "M" logo. The rear brakes are different than what comes with the M Performance option (..which I presume is what the additional $600 amount for the upgrade covers...as well as colored paint and an "M"), BUT they are different than what was equipped on the other M Sport 335i's that were at the meet. It's probably just a 2014 change (..and accompanied by a slight price increase). I'll post a pic. Give me a second.

Here are the M Performance brakes:

...and here are what came on my 2014 (..same caliper, painted silver instead of blue/red/yellow colored paint and a "BMW" logo instead of "M"). Sorry for the HUGE photo!
