They quoted me $350 for labor I find that pretty ridiculous and not cheap.

Do not take that. Honestly, you can knock this thing out with jackstands if you want. A lift makes it easier of course. People pay less than $200 for that type of install out here in California.

Ok, thanks. If anyone in the NY area has any other shop recommendations or would be willing to let me use their lift/jack stands let me know please!

You can grab a pair of jack stands and an aluminum floor jack for under $100 at Harbor Freight, then you can use that any time you need to do the oil, or if you do further upgrades down the line (FMIC, charge pipes, etc.) -- worthwhile investment and much less than the $350 that shop quoted you, if you ask me!

Agreed. Stands, jack, and a good set of tools is a must IMO. You'll save a ton of money and learn more about your car. I started doing all my own maintenance, within my scope of capability, and have easily saved a couple thousand in labor costs.

I'm wondering if downpipes are easy to install on your own?

If so, I might just take the previous advice and grab myself my own tools.

If you're mechanically inclined and can do things like remove screws and clamps, I disagree. Not saying you can't take it to the shop, but if you don't mind spending an hour or two to knock it out yourself, then just do it. This is an easy install.

M Spec performance in Middle Village, Queens does excellent work. I live in Queens and installed my downpipe myself last summer.. It was fairly easy.. essential just bolt on and bolt off... but the V Band clamp was rusted and was a real pain to remove. Here's an excellent DIY so you know exactly what the process entails:
