Anti-Lag with Bootmod3

In lieu of the GFB DV, I am considering installing a recirculating bypass valve by Forge (https://www.forgemotorsport.com/Reci...uct--1351.html).

So my question is, if you turn the burbles to maximum aggression and duration with the bypass valve installed wouldn’t this give you anti-lag properties? i.e. retarded ignition, fuel overrun, etc.

Does this logic make any sense or am I crazy?

I was under the impression that burble setting were mainly for off throttle (over run) and antilag was mainly for on throttle (wide open upshifts). If the burble settings can also control fuel/ignition settings during WOT upshifts, you might be on to something.

As stated above, "burbles" in the configurator only controls lift-off backfires/burbles and I believe the ignition cut on upshifts (not sure if that is controlled w/in the burbles or if it just exists in the tune). That said, I'm not sure I understand your logic relating lift-off burbles to anti-lag... I don't think they're controlled by the same thing...

EDIT: starting to get what you're saying. A true anti-lag system keeps pressure on the hot side high when the throttle is closed to keep the turbo spooling. That is not what's happening, I don't think, when our cars burble. Our burbles are "artificial", I believe it's tuned in by send a bit more fuel down the exhaust, and I believe it ignites way past the exhaust manifold.

That makes sense. I didn't know of the exact mechanism of BM3 burbles which was why I asked. If the excess fuel is indeed being ignited past the exhaust manifold then it doesn't keep the turbo spooled so no anti-lag. Our turbos are so small anyways so I guess it wouldn't matter lol.

Why would you want anti-lag on a street car? It would be a quick way to ruin your turbo

Toyota engineers were quoted saying that they sacrificed a few mpgs for the factory antilag they programmed into the new supra.

Yah, that's why we always say burbles are bad for the cat: because unburnt fuel would have to pass through it to later ignite somewhere between the turbo and the tailpipe.

Occasional Mexico Runs/Drag days. Versatility of BM3 would allow me to switch back and forth between DD and race maps. But yes I am aware of the potential damage to internal components.
