Advice: Broke the clip lock on MAP sensor
Hi All - I ordered a Dinantronics Sport for my 2018 340, just got some time today for the install. I went to remove the clip for the TMAP / pressure sensor and the white plastic locking mechanism for the clip broke as I was removing it. This is literally step one of the install. Can't believe I did this as I am always extremely careful. The clip is still intact, but the locking piece is gone. Any advice on what I should do?

The lock just stops the clip from getting depressed. You could cut the tip off of a ty-wrap to stick in there to prevent it from getting depressed, with a wrap or two of electrical tape to hold it there.
Or, don't worry about it. Those connectors snap together securely. Probability of the clip getting depressed AND the connector pulling apart is about zero (I have the same issue on my Audi with one of the connectors where I snapped off the lock). |

Thanks guys. Good to know it's not a huge deal. Was so frustrating to do this to a brand new car. In my previous life I installed stereos professionally, I must have seen clips like this 1000 times and never broke one! Oh well, will take your advice and zip it together if it feels loose. I did get the Dinan Sport on it and it works great.

Ha at least I'm not the only one! Now I'm trying to figure out why the Dinantronics Sport app stinks so bad. I can select the mode but the boost pressure monitor doesn't work. There's just no way to even get to it from within the app. Anyone else have this issue?

I broke one myself after numerous clip and unclipping of the A8 tune prior to service or warranty.
The only thing I'm bothered about is if there is a warranty claim on engine and the technician finds a clip broken which IMO has no reason to be touched are they going to suspect you had a piggyback tune? |

It's funny that this was resurrected. My broken clip has been perfectly fine, hasn't budged since the day it happened. Still makes me made when I think about it!

I'm just so annoyed it's like impossible to find the damn clip. Like I'll buy a pack of them. IDC. But seems the only way to get one is a damn wiring harness. Even for parts BMWs won't sell one to me.

Like I said in the other thread on this topic, I got the parts shop at my local dealership to find one for me. It took some badgering and it was expensive but I finally got it. It was just the plastic plug which was 2 or 3 separate components and 6 of these little plastic barrels that the wires have to be threaded through. Fortunately I was able to dismantle the old plug and swap the housing over to the new plug without having to cut and thread individual wires.

Found the snap I took showing the plug I replaced. This shows how I moved the wires one at a time to keep the order.

How do you remove the wires from the old plug? Just pull it out?

It's a little bit hard to see from this pic but the bottom of the plug has a locking flap that runs the length of the plug. On the blue plug that flap is closed or mostly closed. On the yellow plug, that flap is completely removed, which is why you can see that one wire that's still inserted. Basically you can flip open that flap which removes some of the pressure on those wires and then you can (carefully) pull the wire out and then insert that wire into the new plug housing.
