Well, I've had these brakes on the car for almost a year. Combined with the Michelin Sport 4S tires, I've only had the anti-lock kick in once, and that was when I tried VERY hard to get it to trigger.

Overall, these brakes work great. The only problem I'm having is that I can't stop the squeal from the Hawk 5.0 pads. Currently looking for a quieter ceramic pad.

I'm sure you know, but just a reminder.

I just changed the front rims/tires to match the rears. In order to have a reasonable amount of space between the tire and the front spring I added a 10mm spacer. Since I was adding spacers, I put a 20mm spacer in the back. All four wheels now have studs.

This increased the space between the rim and the caliper a bit. It's still rather tight, but the extra 10mm moved the caliper to a flatter section of the rim.

My calipers were Used. I don't think a dealer would have touched it.
Where did you get your coding done for this? Local indy, dealer, online remote service?

I'd like to do this myself but the coding is the one thing i dont want to touch.

Do you have the PNs for the rotors you used?

Calipers - I believe that any of these will work with 370/345mm rotors. For the front calipers, please verify the rotor size cast in the caliper prior to purchase. I believe that all of the rear 2-piston calipers are for 345mm rotors.
  • Stock calipers from an M3 or M4
  • M-Sport calipers from a 335, 340, 435 or 440.

  • Backing plate – Left – BMW 34-11-6-872-081

Feel free to substitute rotors and pads of your choice.

NOTE: Brembo makes it difficult to purchase the pressure seals. I've found a few vendors for these:
  • Porterfield Brakes (https://www.porterfield-brakes.com) - This vendor is in southern California. Enter the part number without the dots.
  • Hayward Racing Brakes (http://www.hayworthracingbrakes.com/) - This vendor is in North Carolina. They specialize in rebuilding brake calipers, but have access to the parts needed. No web sales.
  • Overnight Parts From Japan (https://www.onpfj.com/) - This vendor is in Japan.
  • AG Racing (https://www.racing-professionals.de/) - This vendor is in Germany. These people are as crooked as a dog's hind leg, and are only being included here for completeness. I would ONLY consider using this vendor if I were in the EU. Be VERY wary of their overpriced slow shipping.

StopTech also makes pressure seals that they say are replacements for the Brembo parts, and cost about half as much. The StopTech part numbers for the seals are 753.99005 (40mm) and 753.99007 (44mm). They also have boots (750-99005 - 40mm and 750-99007 - 44mm) and conditioning fluid (502.10000).
Purchase of the boots from Brembo or StopTech will also save some money, as the BMW Dealer markup is avoided.
Great info!

do we need coding for the rear m performance calipers if goin from the bosch gray ones with 330 rotors to the 345mm rotors?
im not seeing any pressure seal part on realoem for the m performance calipers. only dust shield if rebuilding used ones.is this just needed for other models than 335i F30 and m3 f80s?

If the braking feels right, it should be fine. If it feels unbalanced, get the coding done.

I feel you need new pressure seals whenever you pull the piston out. Due to the use of metals with different expansion rates (Stainless piston and aluminum caliper), it's not possible to have a tight seal without the pressure seals. The seals are in there, regardless of what RealOEM says.

feelin rt u mean stop without pullin to one side? i had brembos on an acura once and man it would stop so quick u cud barely press the brakes or it would jerk u to a dead still stop best brakes i ever had. i dunno if the m performance brakes are meant to stop like that even with coding or maybe just the material pads u use.
i feel that way too! i got the bmw part number/ brembo repair kit listed on realoem from(i thought reputable company) in UK and it does say repair kit caliper.. no dust seals inside just the 2 boots for one caliper. i tried arguing with them and they insisted bmw sells this repair kit part number that simply does not work because no dust shields inside of them.i tried to explain that to them , that no pic is shown because theyre inside of them on schematics! i said i cannot use them to rebuild so its not a rebuild repair kit. they acted like it was normal that people just buy this kit get the boots and set them on a shelf to look at the boots with no dust shields inside. and thought that was their good argument. after they admitted it doesnt make since. brembo manual even came with them with bmw sticker on front. i cant find dust shields for these anywhere i can, but they want 40 buks per dust shield. stoptechs/centric wont be in stock anywhere until january!

Usually, the issue that indicates that coding is needed is a front/rear imbalance. It makes the car feel "squirrely". If there's a side-to-side imbalance (makes the car pull to one side consistently), there's a different problem and it might be able to mask a front/rear imbalance.

I have the Hawk 5.0 pads with calipers from an M4, the 375/345 rotors (drilled) and soft tires. The braking is fairly linear with the pedal pressure (no abrupt grab), but stomping on the brakes can bring the car to a stop VERY quickly.

The abrupt grab that some pads have can be dangerous on the street because the car behind you is unlikely to be able to stop as fast. While the accident wouldn't be your fault, your car still goes to the shop. This is something I like to avoid.

yea makes sense. however with the acuras brembos i was on interstate once and car darted in front of me to get off an exit. if i hadnt had brakes that good i wouldaa def been hurt bad. but... u are very correct if someone would've been behind me(my luck no one behind me that time), car would def have had to go to shop

Hello terryd5150,

Just stumbled upon this thread with the photos above. Im trying to figure out if the F80 380mm discs +calipers would fit in the style 658 wheels as i have the same.

As you currently have the same wheels as I have but with the 370 discs would you say there is currently another 10mm between your caliper and barrel of the wheel?

realise I would need a custom bracket to be able to install these but just doing a bit of research. thanks!

Brembo says to allow a 3mm gap between brake components and the wheel to prevent road debris from getting trapped and scratching them both
