+1, it costs $$$ to properly dispose of oil, so it's built into the oil price.

It's like tinting or having no plate in states that require it. As long as nothing goes wrong, you reap the benefits. Otherwise, you pay fines or get the tinting removed.

Most municipalities have hazardous waste disposal centers or places that take motor oil and filters for free.

Don't forget to take your oil filter in to get recycled as well. Those things hold a half quart of oil.

BMW cartridge filters hold very little oil. Even spin-on filters don't hold a lot when they're drained.
Muni disposal centers tend to be a PITA. I take my used oil to Auto Zone. Just about all auto parts supply stores will take it.

Hey all,

Oil, used or not, is not considered hazardous material by most regularly used shippers. And while they would of course not prefer leaks (neither do we) we encourage customers to package their used oil in plastic bags to avoid any spillage, in the same way we ship them out to you.

For oil its a rating on PPM for halogens, generally safe to ship no problem.

I do think the FCP Euro used oil send back thing is rather odd though plus if any of your used oil leaks in shippment, the shipping company will be all over your ass because it's totally illegal to ship used oil as it's considered a hazardous waste and it's illegal to ship without proper declarations, certifications, package labeling, and DOT shipper training (that would be YOU). Penalties are stiff.

I can understand the free replacement warranty on certain long life span parts, but how is FCP Euro able to offer free replacements for engine oil, oil filters, and spark plugs??

I doubt they replace the oil with new under that guarantee. I read the page and it doesn't seem to be that oil is included. Could be wrong though. I hope I am

Edit: looking again I see the guarantee is still prominently displayed on the product page for the OE Twin power oil https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...pping-warranty

Looks like I will definitely be purchasing my oci parts from fcp

They CAN and are ABLE. One could just charge it to the books as a sourcing/marketing expense since it brings the customer back to the store to purchase items. The more customers return to the store, the better the chances are they purchase other items. A lot of businesses spend money to get customers to return, and this is one way you could do it.
