So, per my CA and the representative at BMW NA, my car is supposed to be scheduled for week 34 (i.e. this week). Anyone have any experience when the phone message actually will tell you your estimated build date? I'm still getting "Your vehicle is scheduled for production with no confirmed production date yet."

On all my previous orders the phone number never gives you a date. One day it will just switch to in production.

The info at that 800# lags by a couple days. So who knows, maybe you car has already started production and the 800# is just not reporting it yet!

Do you hate having to call the BMW Call Center for order status on your vehicle?

Are you like me, and call every hour? Sometimes every 30 minutes? Well, I have some great news for you!!!

Create the following contact on your iPhone, and save it as BMW Order Status.

For Look Up By Production Order Number:

Code:
18008311117,,2,,,1234567,,1
NOTE: Make sure to change 1234567 to your production number when putting it in your contact
  • each comma's represent a 3 second pause
  • 2 gives the option for vehicle order status
  • 1234567 represets Production Order Number
  • 1 lets them know it's a production order number, not a VIN

Now you can just call this contact, and it will give you the production status, without the need for you to fumble typing it in, or memorize any numbers.

This will save you lots of time!

You're welcome.

Sorry for the noob question but how long does the website take to update? I've had had my production number for about a week now and it still shows up as nothing.

Don't expect a change soon, or ever. It seems the only way to get production updates is to call customer relations.

I just got my car last week. I found the 800 tracking next to useless. My dealer told me the car was on the ship and the name. The 800 number told me the car was waiting in port for 2 days after the ship had left. I followed the ship using a web site from the ship owners.
After arrival at port the 800 number was clueless and told me the car was was waiting for transport two days after the dealer called to tell me the car would be ready for me to pickup the next day.

Talking Waiting on 340i xDrive

Waiting on my new 340i xDrive. It was ordered Friday February 5th, completed production on the 12th and released to carrier for transport to port of exit on the 15th where it has stayed in that status. I'm going insane waiting for this thing .

Hey all,

Looks like there is some extra pauses needed because the phone option tree has changed a bit with the Takata airbag recall. This worked for me, might need a bit of tweaking if the pause times aren't exactly right:

800-831-1117,,,,,,,,,,,,2,,,1234567,,,1
(that's 12 commas in the first section)

Thank you Jason

First post, been reading up for the past 6 months and finally put my order in last month.

I'm a geek (personal and work life...) and this is awesome. Currently my build is outside of the English Channel on its way to Baltimore via the Torrens.

It's almost scary the details available to track the car from production order to being loaded on a ship to watching the ship leave the channel.

Hoping for calm seas and an on schedule delivery.

Again thank you for taking the time putting this together. Very much appreciated!

Scott

My car has been sitting at the port of exit since Feb 26th, over 3 weeks now. I just found out a couple days ago my build was done in SA, not Germany. I haven't been able to find out much on the SA build shipping times but my understanding is it is generally longer due to it taking longer to fill ships from SA. Does anyone have any experience with shipping times from SA? I'm going a bit stir crazy at this point... I don't know when to expect it to hit sea and haven't been able to find much about transport times from the SA port to the East Coast. Any insight/links/experience to share would be great, thanks!

I too have been sitting at the port in SA for awhile now, March 3rd. Would like to get some info on this as well.

Our cars are traveling together! I believe Maryland is stop 4 on the voyage then somewhere down south before getting to me in California (Stop #6)

1st post... Seemed the right place to drop it.

After the most excruciating 2 months and change my build has been promoted to "Finishing Touches"!

My CA tells me my brand new 335i GT MSport could be here as early as this coming Saturday. YES!!! This is my first Bimmer and I couldn't be more excited for it to be here.

To all of you calling the number daily, checking the status of ships at sea, wondering where the heck your car is... I feel your pain, but not for long!

En Route!

After 3 and a half excruciating weeks of hearing "No shipping vessel has been assigned..." on the 800 number, my car is now IN TRANSIT! Coming from SA, still don't have a clear answer as to whether its hopping thru Bremerhaven or not. Calling to find out my ship info today, will post later!

Just called, still saying its at the port. I know in the past, people on the same ship update differently so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
