How easy to find used door trim in 3 years?
Hello,
A little strange, I'm wondering how easy it'll be to find an F30 LCI front door trim in white leather (for both doors) and can you have a guess at the cost? I know we are not fortune tellers (I'm not, anyway) but perhaps looking at slightly older 4-5 year old parts and their current availability we can guess? I'm considering doing some irreparable damage to my front door panels (in the name of audiophilia - adding a proper 6.5" woofer in addition to the 4" already there) and wonder how much it'll cost me to get the car back to stock looking in 3-4 years when I plan to replace it? New part is £1k per door ;( On a side note, I wonder how much of an issue it'll be if I tried to part exchange it for a new BMW at a dealership? I can install some cheap speakers so as to not leave a hole in the door, will they refuse or reduce the price? Your thoughts are appreciated, thank you! |

Worth checking breakers or ebay for this.
There are some out there, but it's getting the right ones. A quick ebay search came up with these https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...p2045573.m1684 I'd be tempted just to upgrade your under seat subs instead.

Upgrading the under-seat 'subs' won't work for a full range 3-way system - you'll hear directional bass from below you... Crazy audiophiles, I know |

I wouldn't bother.
I'm also afflicted with the wallet draining condition of being an audiophile... However, my car gets HK fed with 256 Kbps AAC's from my phone. This is fit for purpose, the car is too compromised for bothering with anything else. Road noise is huge and cabin and sound interactions are significant. The car further compressed the dynamic range on the move to compensate for this... However, the HK sounds better in my F31 than it did in my F30. The F31 seems to suffer less bass bloat and have better timing to my ears. Audiophile money is best spent at home in my personal opinion.

Should be ok, F30 has been the biggest selling 3 series of all time.
If you wanted to test my optimism through...can you get any last gen door cards brand new currently? In a few month F30 is in that last gen bracket of course.

Bass <80Hz is non directional. But, if they have some how adjusted the car to do full range from the under seat subs you'd hear the direction... I think the audio processor has active crossovers and sends only the correct speaker signal to each driver. Or, maybe I'm misunderstanding the HK digital processing... So, if this is the case I don't know how much benefit there would be from changing door speakers for those capable of lower mid-bass. Though, if it's the base audio system there may be some benefit if you're a bass junky.

Hey people,
You are right, Low bass (80hz and below) is non directional, However the 3 way system I'd like to install (Morel elate 603) has a midrange woofer (to replace the current 4" in the door) that is phenomenal but only goes down to 300hz and the cross over actually plays it down to 500hz so unless I use their bass woofer I'll have a hole between 500-80hz which is a no no - I could probably fit those woofers in the under-seat location but it'll be directional as hell, hence modifying the door |
