New Speed Yellow F36

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Good Evening,

I weren't looking to buy a new car but because this car was so special i thought i would go and have a look at it anyway. In the end i ended up putting a deposit on it. Collection hopefully this weekend. Now this is no ordinary Bmw. Its very different and certainly does stand out from the crowd. Its not everybodies cup of tea, which i can understand. However i love it, Hence the reason I bought it. Flies also love this colour, constantly sat on the paintwork !
Some of you may have seen this car elsewhere because it has been featured in many different places online.

It is in the Porsche Colour, Speed Yellow Individual. Not Dakar Yellow before anybody asks.
It has the Full M Performance Package which Includes the 20" M Performance Wheels, Carbon Fibre Front Splitter, Rear Diffuser, Carbon Fibre Mirror Housings, Carbon Fibre Rear Spoiler, Black Grille, Side Skirts, Side Decals and finally the M Performance Vinyl Stripes over the bonnet, roof and boot. It is believed to be the only one in the country like it.

I part exchanged my 2013 F10 535d for it. It has just turned 3 years old. The 435d isnt as smooth as my 535d and it isnt as luxurious or executive, however the steering is a lot lighter and it feels more sporty even though my 535d did have adaptive drive on. They are 2 very different cars. But i thought i would have a change.

Mods planned: Stage 1 Custom Remap on Dyno
Maybe debadge the rear 435d & xdrive badges ?

Hmm...one thing I just noticed...no sunroof!!!!!!!!!! Are they not 'standard' in 2016 anymore?

AWESOME CAR I've always loved speed yellow and this is just amazing.

One question: Maybe it's just the lighting but it looks like the car has the standard/non-M sport side skirts with the m performance vinyl over them?

Thank you for the kind comments
Im not sure about the sunroof to be honest with you.
Kadify im not sure. The car is definitely an M Sport, It also has some kind of black side skirt below the vinyl which i have never actually seen before.

It must just be the lighting then. Is the color metallic btw? There aren't a ton of pics of speed yellow and none close up enough to really tell if it is a flat color or not.

One thing i were impressed with is the tailgate and the button to close the button fitted as standard.

Those are m-performance add-on "blades" mounted below the side skirts.

Love it. Attention getter for sure. Love the wheels.

On the sunroof - don't forget that in Europe things are a bit more ala carte.

One thing that puzzles me: tailpipes on one side - former 335d had dual ones on either side, like the 335i. Curious.

Great combo if you ask me.

I honestly considered yellow when I bought my F36 but I went for Frozen Grey in the end which I'm very happy with. I was kinda afraid that I would get tired of yellow after a while. I do believe it only works when the car is super sporty like this one, fully decked out with M Performance gear. It will turn heads when you're driving around

xDrive has too much space between the wheels and the body but I see you're already planning on lowering it so that should work out fine and it will be even more beautiful slightly lowered.

Not in EU as far as I know... I prefer not to have sunroof anyway because I wouldn't use it

Only the higher "i" versions have it now ... I don't understand these brands in terms of making that decision, it sucks to be honest and it doesn't change my buying behaviour either. Same thing with Audi by the way, I had a Audi A6 Avant 2.0 TDI some years back which had exhausts on both sides, nowadays not possible anymore, only the big engines / specific combo's get them.

Thanking everybody for the kind words
Yes i do prefer 1 tailpipe on either side like my 535d. I was think quad Schnitzer Exhaust & diffuser however at £1900 excluding fitting they dont come cheap.

What are peoples opinion on debading the 435d xdrive on the rear ?

Collected the car on Saturday.

Very happy with it. Totally different car to the 535d. It is much more sporty and you seem more involved with the drive. You can really feel the xdrive gripping round corners, bends and roundabouts. The ride is more bumpy but that was expected because of the 20" M Perf wheels.

Ive tried launch control and it the way it throws you back into the seat is unreal. Even more so after i get it remapped in the near future. The engine sound is much louder than it were in the 535d and you can really hear it, it sounds more like a performance car than the 535d did. I like this.

It attracts ALOT of attention. Wherever you go people are staring and pointing at it. There are much more people like it than i thought there was going to be. Even the police were having a good look round it today, they loved it. And before anyone asks, no they hadn't pulled me up

It is for definite speed yellow. It has it written on the Bmw Individual sticker under the bonnet.

Im not keen on the idea of the servicing being on the idrive, because i dont always take it to Bmw for servicing. I like to change the oil every 12 months/ 10,000 miles and i want a stamp in the book from the independent. I asked them for a service book and they told me that they did not make them anymore however i managed to find someone on ebay selling them new for £12.50 so i ordered one of them.

I am quite disappointed it has such a small 57 litre fuel tank. I filled up for the first time yesterday with BP Ultimate Diesel, (I only ever use that or Shell V Power) and i noticed the tank was full and it didn't cost anywhere near what my 535d cost to fill. I also put some Redex in the tank, it probably didn't need this but I am sure it wont do it any harm.

I am thinking twice about the AC Schnitzer springs. The car has the M Perf Carbon splitter and is very low at the front already and barely clears kerb edges when driving into a car parking space. Obviously the only way around this is to not drive in car parking spaces, but i would worry about speed bumps etc... I wouldn't want to cause any damage to the splitter.

So far i am very impressed with the car.
Keep posted for updates !

Looks sweet!

Too bad BMW didn't put dual side exhaust outlets.
I know it's a diesel, but it would still look great to keep up with the M Performance appearance.

Has anybody experienced the issue of the rear break hubs rusting ? It looks a mess through the spokes of the wheels and really doesn't look good on such an expensive car.
