Exclamation Catless Downpipe Install Help - N20

Hi Everyone,

I am in the process of installing a catless DP. Long story short, I got everything off, but I am having trouble connecting the new DP to the midpipe. The new DP appears to be a tiny bit larger than the midpipe, and I am now very worried that I purchased the wrong part. My vehicle is a 2015 BMW 320i base model n20 engine, and I purchased the following DP:

Ebay Downpipe Page

Two questions:

Did I buy the wrong catless DP for my vehicle, explaining fitment issues?

If so,

What is the correct one I should purchase?

Thanks in advance everyone!

That's too bad. I will see if I can return it. I just purchased a VRSF downpipe. That's probably what I get for being cheap, lol.

Owns a bmw with a Honda budget. This is what buying cheaper parts will get you. Especially eBay parts. Always spend the extra money to go with a name brand like VSFR. Your drive a BMW that has quality factory parts why put in a cheap knockoff part. Thatís my 2 cents. Hopefully itís good quality.

Should be the right one for your car but the quality and fitment is shady because you did not choose a reputable brand.

As mentioned above... take it to an exhaust shop and have it welded on for $50. This is assuming the turbo side fits properly. I would also recommend a new turbo to downpipe gasket.

Well said. It's a tough lesson to learn but an important one. I just bought a VRSF downpipe. I hope it's a better fit. This has been a hassle of a job.

FWIW...

VRSF also has terrible fitment issues on the N20. You must not search well.

You very well could be "oh and two."

Keep us posted.

Thanks for the advice! I just got a VRSF dp. I'd rather not have it welded on. I'm hoping it's a better fit! I already bought a gasket for it as well.

It seems like I have a new opportunity to make things right. VRSF is out of stock until 7/5, so I have cancelled my order. I'm now taking new DP recommendations. Any ideas?

Alternatively, I can try expanding the mid pipe to try and fit the DP I purchased with fitment issues. How recommended is that?

I had same situation with my ebay downpipe.

Since downpipe is just a tube that has same dimensions as stock Cat i wasnt ready to spend 300$ for 1 hour of work. So i just used angle grinder and made the downpipe smaller and pushed the 2 together. Just make sure there are no holes so you wont have any leaks.

Honestly its just a bit of work for a lot of money saved.

Thanks! I put on the stock downpipe for now. Having one car is super inconvenient. I'll give it another shot over the weekend if I can't return the downpipe.

Irts an $88 downpipe, i would not expect it to be a direct bolt on
Your better off returning it and getting a proven brand instead

Just to bring everyone back down to earth...

VRSF has had a ton of fitment issues.

If you search this forum, you will see for yourself.

Maybe they have improved their processes. Maybe not. Worth the risk?
