2014 335 xdrive GT Buyback/Trade assist
I am new to the forum and wonder if any of you have had issues with your GT. My car has been in for service on multiple occasions for losing power and shutting down while driving. This has been scary as the last incident occurred on a busy interstate. The car was purchased as a CPO. BMW has offered a trade assist but at this moment has not told me what my trade value will be for my car. Has anyone dealt with this type of issue. Thanks in advance.

That sounds like the classic Limp Mode. Do a search, there are lots of threads about it going back years, though this is the first I recall seeing it with GT. For trade value use a few on-line calculators to see what they're trading in for, but also what they're worth if you sell privately and what dealers are currently getting for them. Tell BMW you want the higher of the last two.

Thanks for the advice on the trade. The car is only 18 months old to me and I figure I may be behind in the deal. Bmw needs to work something out. My wife no longer feels safe in the vehicle. We do own a 328 along with a motorcycle so hoping an amicable outcome can be reached.

I would see if it happens again and seek lemon law if its in your state. There needs to be a record that you attempted to resolve and the dealer could not fix the issue. If this happens your situation fits the criteria "substantially impairs the consistent and safe operation of your vehicle." That way you get the most out of the situation vs trading it in, any carfax will see that you went in for such an issue.
I'm no expert and just know the general gist, but it may be worth looking into |
