Hows that going with the export plates, do you get to keep those once the car arrives in the US?

But, if you need a good reason for you to go: the discount you get on ED is usually a bit more than a trip to Germany costs

Update to this thread. Redelivery day is tomorrow!!! Just flew in and am in an Atlanta airport area hotel right now. Will take delivery tomorrow morning, 36 days after dropping off in Munich, and set out on the drive to Dallas.
Below is the photo of it on the dealer lot sent by my CA earlier today - after which I promptly rebooked my flight to come down tonight. Just couldn't hold off until Friday as originally planned. :-) |

I'm home with the car on the streets of Dallas! (Well, actually it's in my garage at the moment, but...) Adrian Avila at BMW of South Atlanta was kind enough to go in on his day off today to deliver the car to me first thing this morning, then I hit the road about 9:45 Eastern. It was 804 miles and with 3 stops along the way I made it home at 8:11 Central this evening.
Drove a good amount of the way with the cruise control set at 90mph. Thank God for the Escort radar detector that I invested in as part of this purchase as well! In the end, I averaged just a little over 79mph for the trip as a whole and the trip computer says right at 30mpg. Thanks to everybody for tracking along my ED journey and for the comments and discussion! At some point, I'm going to try to do a final summary write up of the whole thing and will post a link here. |
