I believe the big advantage of a hard top is reduced noise when the top's up. The big advantage of a soft top is more trunk space. Looking at my trunk with the top down, I can understand the reasoning for going back to the soft top.

My old soft top was unbearably loud with the top up, but I prefer the hardtop because it's a great all year convertible in the northeast. I actually think the BMW has loads of trunk space with the top down and the pass through to the back seat is enormous. It easily fits a full week of groceries even with the top down. I love this car but I do wish it were faster

RW Carbon. Did front lip, rear fascia and mirror caps. Was happy with the product(s)

Convertibles are something that you either love or hate. If you don't love them, and love the way a BMW handles, they're probably not worth the extra money that BMW charges for them.

This is my fourth convertible (two Le Barons, a Sebring and my 430i). I clearly fall into the "love them" category.
I had a Le Baron,a Sebring, a cutlass, 3 Saabs. A Volvo and a 2 series. Oh,a 66 mustang for awhile. Also a VW EOS. We were contemplating not having a convertible. Then we crashed the EOS and went a month and half without one. Bought the 2 series.

I love how the whole back end of the car lifts up. Plenty of trunk space. I’m sure expensive to repair. Especially for BMW under warranty. That’s probably one of the reasons for the soft top.

I've had hardtop convertibles since 2007 and the only issues I've had is keeping the seals lubricated so that they don't leak. Don't neglect those seals!

to me the benefit of having a hard top is the huge trunk space when the top is up. The roof is stored in the trunk so unlike the soft top ones, once the top is up, lots of extra space is freed. The soft top convertibles use a separate compartment to stow the cloth roof, that space is wasted if the roof is not folded. And because the roof compartment has its own lid, to make room for the trunk lid, it has to be placed forward which means less leg room in the rear seat, an example is the 8 series. That's just my observation.

I didn't buy the hard top convertible for the trunk space.
My next convertible will be a hard top as well so it's looking like the new Corvette will be my only option.

I have another car to use if I need to haul stuff.

Again, there is a lot of trunk space when the top is down. The whole top plus everything around it moves out of the way.

I know!

I'm only 45 but feel like I'm way up there with all my work related injuries.
My leg and back are hurting now so I think there's a storm coming.

I got in someone's vette recently and basically had to climb out of it.

What’s the longest anyone has owned the hardtop for without issues? I’m on my second car and after three years with each I’ve never had any issues but I’m considering buying out a lease, and just curious if that could be an issue? These things could start to become pretty desirable.

I had an E93 with 135k on it. It was an 08 and I just traded it in Nov 19 for an F33....no problems with the top.
H2O pumps, rear main seal, head gasket now thats a different story but not specific to the convertibles.

I had a CPO VW EOS. Had the roof serviced a couple of times. Including having it towed with it not fully closed. My 430 has intermittent issues. It will stop mid cycle when closing. When it does it,it always stops at the same place. Have to let go of the button and pull it again. A couple of days ago,I had to pull it 3 times before it closed. It’s been reset. A second dealer replaced some sensor. It still does it. Sometimes there is a message on the screen.
If you look at the CPO warranty,it specifically excludes the top.

All true, Elvis, but does it matter when the rest of the car looks like a 2010 Chrysler Sebring with a 2017 Ford Mustang's roof?

I have no idea what BMW is thinking.

The hard top is going away. There is nothing we can do about it.
Lexus just introduced a $102,000 convertible. Soft top. As said before. There used to be a lot of them. One problem is that there is no real emergency procedure for top failure. VW had one. It failed to work when my top failed. Couldn’t move the windows. Couldn’t get in the trunk. It’s all about cost and weight reduction.
As far as the Sebring look. I see it in the taillights.

Hello my F33 friends, could someone tell me what the part number is for the set of Rear All Weather Mats in the black color?

I have the mats from my F36 and I'm told that the fronts will fit the F33 but not the rears. Anyone know the definitive part number? I've searched online and am getting conflicting information.
