A new hpfp option Nostrum industries

https://www.nostrumshop.com/product/bmw-n55-hpfp-kit/

Any experience from anybody on here? I emailed them and they informed me it doesn't require tuning changes to start up but would need a tune to take advantage of it. This pump is currently on sale for $1450 and it flows 63% more then stock. Which makes it flow more then a dorch stg2 and spool fx150. They seam to have good reviews on other platforms but I have never seen anything about it on bmw forums.

I'm really tempted to buy this over a dorch stg2 or the spool fx150 hopefully someone here has heard about this pump.

How does it work out of the box without a tune or platform that supports the pump?

I’m not aware of any off the shelf BMW/Bosch pumps that flow this much if they’re just repackaging the guts of a compatible pump.

Are they just modifying the OE pumps somehow?

I believe the only reason aftermarket pumps need tunes has something to do with the electrical signals the dme needs to see. Now I certainly don't know this for sure and someone smarter the me can chime in.

Here is what they said to me in an email.

Hi Brendan,

Thank you for reaching out! We have successfully run our HPFP on Bootmod3 and Ecutek. We have yet to validate the pump on MHD but it is something I am looking into. Our pump does not need any tune changes in order to fire up and work. But in order to utilize the pump fully we recommend a proper tune!

Let me know if you have any other questions

It is in stock and on sale currently!

Thanks
Stan

I use MHD and plan on getting a custom tune but it would be nice not have to do so immediately after I install the hpfp.

Yeah. The only way I can think that they’re doing this is by taking an OE pump, modifying it to increase flow, and repackaging it in their externals.

Anyone buying these is going to run a tune anyways, but guys with 2017/2018 N55’s still under warranty would be able to relock the DME before going to the dealer. Altho, the dealer would still be able to easily see the aftermarket HPFP.

Yeah that might be the case but is that necessarily a bad thing? I don't know the answer to that. I'm currently searching other platform forums to try and learn as much as I can about the hpfp and the company. I mean if it seems to be a quality part it would be the overall best option available for it's flow capabilities and it's price.

Hopefully I don't end up having to be the guinea pig because I will be in need of a upgraded hpfp pretty soon once my ps2 turbo finally arrives.

Not saying if it’s good or bad, just curious how they made theirs plug n play with no tune needed to run it.

All the new HPFP options are within spitting distance of each other when it comes to $/flow, so it really comes down to easy of use and reliability. This seems to win the ease of use category, but more time is needed on all the pumps to know about reliability.

Over on the M2 forum folks are generally happiest with Dorch’s support, but no one has had any of the pumps installed long enough to truly understand reliability.

Yeah Dorch is my first choice right now so I will need to decide on which option pretty soon as my ps2 should arrive next week.

they are local to me.

I tried talking to them.about a few things and they seemed to have little interest.

been running the dorch pump since release and I'm happy.

What info were you asking the. and how did they respond? I'm still trying to figure out if I'm going to try their hpfp. I have found alot of info on wrx forums where this pump is really popular.

If I go dorch I need stage 2 hpfp which is where I'm leaning towards. But with Nostrum I can buy theirs which flows as much as the Dorch stg2 for 250 bucks less.

I'm hoping I can find someone with personal experience with Nostrum's hpfp and if not I may guinea pig it for everyone. If I can wait a bit longer then I want and Dorch has a black friday sale which they hinted when I asked them about a sale in an email then that may make my decision a bit easier.

Interesting new option. I find it odd it requires no changes to tuning though as all others do.

Hey all, jusr bumping this thread.

I'm working with Nostrum getting their pump tuning sorted out on my 2018 M2. Should have more info coming late January.

In the meantime, I threw a cheesy unboxing video up on my YouTube if you'd like to check it out.

If you have any questions, I can certainly try to get some answers.

Awesome keep us updated. I already bought a dorch stg2 hpfp on black friday so I don't need a pump anymore but I'm still interested in how it goes.

Yup. I did the same, ended up canceling the order after speaking with Nostrum.

Helps that they're local and I know someone over there from another shop who did work with me.

Personally don't mind being a ghinipig if we can get more N55 stuff on the market.

Will keep this thread updated as things progress, though I may make another separate thread with my findings and link here.

Are you having the shop install the pump for you? What tuning software do you currently have on your vehicle?

Yes. Nostrum will be installing the pump towards the end of January.

I'm currently running BM3 (Stage 2 OTS) on my car.

Any updates? Nostrum looks like a nice savings compared to Dorch stage 2, but I am confused/worried with Nostrum's HP figures being higher than Dorch's, despite Dorch having more flow. Sure, both companies may be lying but I think one is lying more than the other... The question is which one!

Also curious on this, and seeking confirmation this pump will run with no tuning changes (required for CA cars to pass emissions now).

Looks like it’s already an option in BM3 and it’s coming for MHD. Price has also been lowered:
