Help with Variable Light Distribution
Hi all,
I own an F36 (EU) with Adaptive Full Led (552) and HBA (5AC) equipped. As far as I know, the VLD should be included by default (I obviously have the KAFAS and the HBA button). When I switch the ignition on, I see the beam going down and then slowly up. When I turn wheel left/right, I see the beam following. Problem is that I don’t see the beam changing depending on vehicle speed (Basic - Town - Motorway). Is there something I can check? |

Also the adaptive light function won't activate until your above a speed limit with your full beam switched on

Yes... I travel quite often on highways (130 Km/h) for long distances, and with HBA activated. HBA works, because I see the beam moving in order to avoid cars ahead of me.
But at that speed (and also at lower speeds, according to the picture I posted earlier) the beam shape should change. |

If you look at the sticky in this forum section by kapkanimd, there's a section in there on how to code the features for adaptive headlights. It may not apply to you since it's a retrofit guide for US spec xenons, but I would think the code would be similar.
I think this is the code that applies to that feature: C_AFS_ENA = F030enable (Light Distribution) May want to check to see if that is enabled for you. I did that retrofit several years ago on my first BMW. I don't remember all the details, but I did the coding and can confirm the beam patterns did change according to speed. Wider at low speeds and narrower at higher speeds.

Thanks for the suggestion...
Anyway the weird thing is that the feature should be enabled by default. I’ll take a look. BTW, do you know if there’s a way to check/set that with Bimmercode? |

You should be able to using expert mode. I just checked the app and searched "C_AFS_ENA" and it's in the 3073 LaMaster1 section for me. I'll connect to my car after work to make sure.

On my car it dims the drivers side headlight chink during slow speed (you can tell because it activates in reverse but not stopped). It also activates additional side lights when I slow down.

Anyway, in my case it’s already enabled. |
