Aha - Found it - Holy thread revival Batman!!
Anyone got a fix to this. I initially couldn't find this thread so started another here; http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1065701 As you can see the BMW UK site lists wheels as an option and then when you click on them it states "not for 320i EfficientDynamics and 320d EfficientDynamics." I'm bored of the look of my 16" 306's

Rotate the front tires side to side Not fr to bk That should solve it If it helps and a little remains consider doing rear as well

I guess you had no problems such as reported in this thread then... Good to see, looks smart. You see my post with screenshots over in this thread; http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1065701 why would BMW state not for ED if clearly you can do it with no issues! Incidentally - what were those wheels? 397's also?

anyone manage to figure this out yet?
Just got my 320D ED F30 and there's almost a NEED to change these It just looks plain wrong. I'm happy to keep the wheels 16" and change the rims alone if that's a suitable compromise? Surprised BMW hasn't come up with alternative alloy upgrades to sell so they could make more money Cheers! |

Sorry to revive an old thread, but this comes up in Google search.
I have a 320d ed F30 and just put the [brand new] m sport 18" wheels on it. It fits fine, and runs fine. I got up to 90mph, and it's perfect. The wheels are 225 on the front, and 255 on the rear. I do expect MPG to drop because of this; and thats why BMW don't offer it on this car. Totally transforms the car. The 16" wheels look crap, and it does wallow too much for my liking - adding 18"s with the run flat tyres makes it perfect for me. I suggest the OP has buckled wheels, or not balanced properly. |

F30 ED 16" to 19"
Hey.. reviving the thread again..
I was hoping for abit of advice based on the same topic.. I have a F30 ED model with the 16" and was hoping to upgrade them to 19" but was advised to also change the suspension? But on reading this thread is it even possible to change it at all without facing any issues? If so what do I need to do? Any replies would be appreciated |

https://www.veemann.com/veemann-v-fs39.html I've read up on a lot threads on several forums where people are talking about knocking/vibration issues so not to do it but noones really talked about the solution to them. What do you mean by three right wheel offsets by the way? |

The wheel offsets change when you change wheel size. It’s basically the measurement of how far in or out the wheel will sit in the well off the hub. That’s about as basic as I can say that in my inebriated state. Google it for more in depth explanations.
If you’re jumping to 19s, I did 235/40/19 on mine and it works great. 235/40/19. Stock xdrive suspension. |

If you keep the overall diameter the same, it shouldn’t be a problem? I hope

No issues switching 16" for 18" for me. I see no reason why changing to a 19" with the same rolling radius would be any different.

you don't even have to do that. it's basic algebra take your 16" setup. i am assuming it is 205/55R16 wheel diameter is 16". side wall is 205 * .55 /25.4 = 4.43 so wheel and tire size = 16 + 4.438 + 4.438 = 24.87" high. do the same with 17, 18, 19 etc and try to be as close to 25" as possible. Which I think is too small. 225/50r17 = 25.85" 225/45r18 = 25.97" 225/40r19 = 26.08" my size 235/40r19 = 26.40" My original size is 225/45r18, i sold those and got 17" winter setups in 225/50r17 and summer setups in 235/40r19 |

Would changing the suspension with some coilovers extend the rolling radius range or help in any way?
As from the look of all these figures, getting 225/40/19s seems too far off the 25 figure? |

What year is your vehicle.
You should be okay going from the 16-19. As long as all four are the same-ish. Since you’re on 16s now you don’t have to worry about brake clearance going larger. Not sure why there would be an issue? Best bet, take your car into a dealer and ask about wheels. You don’t have to buy but at least they can show you size options. I think when you buy new they won’t give you options because it’s supposed to come with low resistance tires or something because of the ED designation, but once you own it you can throw whatever you want on it. |

I know this is an old thread, but for anyone interested I have just fitted 397s to my '13 f31 efficient dynamics with 225/45 18s all round and haven't had the problem the OP suffered from. 245/40s would also have worked.
