Let me talk to my wife about this idea of debadging her LV and Chanel bags for a cleaner look.

HAHA.

Here is the deal though, I don't think most men buy a car to show off to other men, only in some cases . Most women and some men wouldn't know the difference between a 320i or a 340i.

Those badges were made so that someone who admires your car will know what it is. Maybe want to buy one. That's it, advertising pure and simple. If manufacturers didn't see the value of putting badges on their cars they wouldn't bother to go to the expense of putting them there.
Agreed, why would I want the next man to run out and buy my model? The less the better to me. What makes a Bugatti desirable is the fact of its rarity asides from its performance. Haha you must be a cop my friend and my message prior wasn't mean to offend. But bmw warranty has made it so much more affordable for consumers. Frankly this will be my last one.

This all about aesthetic for me. Same reason I would not keep a dealer sticker or dealer license plate frame.

I could not care less what model other people think I am driving. To answer an earlier question, yes, I took the badge off my 550i too.

Most people, weather they appreciate cars or not, don't even understand the difference between similar models, just understand the look of the car.

The people who do understand, and would judge me based on the model, are the people I really don't care about, so it seems to me it doesn't matter in that respect.

Your right...99.9% of the general population has no idea what the difference is between a 320, 328, 335 or 340...it just is a bmw. I think the whole notion of people debadging a "so called" lower horsepower car so people "think" they drive something more is ridiculous. Those, such as us forum members, who are into the different models know from the tailpipe which model it is. It is only the rare occasions, such as one time I met a guy in a parking lot who had a quad tailpipe setup on his 328, that we can be fooled from look.

I have a 435i xdrive fully loaded with every option from factory, I debadge my car for the clean look. Could careless what people thinks but I love the way a debadged car looks.

Currently have the JB4 map 1 on the car, just ordered from Mike at X-ph FMIC, Catless DP, and intake. I could have easily bought a M4 but due to the snow here in the Colorado I opted for the m435i xdrive.

Don't tell me about the license plate.. I had a clean no sign, no writing license plate frame to get along with the debadging. I brought the car to the dealer for a service and one week after getting the car back, I noticed they removed my frame and installed one with the dealer name on it! I haven't had the time to complain to them or buy another one since then... so they got what they wanted

So much this. I'm still in my E90 328i (and autocross in it for shits and giggles), and I've had passengers ask if I'm driving a sports car.

And this leads me to the topic of License plate frames...my last car I took off the dealer one and put a plain black on made of plastic..obviously not the most expensive but it looked good until it started fading a few months later. I still have the dealer frame on(had this car for 3 months now and decided to do JB4, DP and CP first..haha). I've been thinking about what frame to put on...I don't want an M label one or BMW or 335..I think all that looks silly. So, my indecision has led to a delay in taking off the chrome dealer one.

I'm thinking about debadging the "Grancoupe" off my windows in the back seat. I just think it looks awful in the window. Anyone agree? Also, anyone know the easiest way to take it off? Fishing line perhaps?

On my BSM car, I plastidipped the 335i semi gloss black, can't really tell its there from a distance, but it looks pretty cool having it black like that. Lol

Compromise..

And then I can just peel the black off at lease turn in.

I removed the Gran Coupé badge from my side windows. Looks much cleaner now (see pg 3 of thread for pic).

Some people choose to de-badge....
Some people have paint work and then place the badge on the wrong side....
Some people put 318i badges on an e30 with an engine swap/conversion with 1000hp...
and then there are others that do this:

I put the same license plate frame on all of my cars - BMW or not.

BMW part # 82120010399 is the current revision I think. It is high quality metal with a high quality black finish and included fastener caps that look nice and clean. Has held up well for me.

Why will matter if it doesn't say bmw anywhere. Now, look my Corvette with BMW wheels.

I'm not saying it matters, just mentioning that my default frame I use for all my cars just happens to be a BMW part. I haven't come across anything nicer.
