Serving in your United States Army. I've driven Ford trucks most of my adult life. Test drove my current ride when stationed in Germany, found it impossible to go back to ONLY driving a Ford truck again.

Speaking of BMW Genius, I was able to impart some knowledge to the young man with that title working at my dealership regarding the Navigation system and the whole concept of custom coding. Since he was approximately 40 years younger than me, it kinda surprised him!
Most techie-types tend to want to understand more about how their cars work rather than just enjoy the car as a whole. We tend to impart that knowledge to others the same way we do in our chosen careers when we discover how to resolve a problem or significantly improve something.

Uh oh...I usually make a cross with my fingers when the word "Oracle" is mentioned. THE most unnecessarily complex software in the known universe that requires the most maintenance with the least reliability - and, most of the time, never ever works out of the box, even for their own support engineers. May God have mercy on your soul.
