Probably blow up your engine if you don't plug them in, no big deal as you can just find a M3 engine and drop it in instead. (I have no idea if you can't tell but assume it will perform better)

I am going to guess that if you don't hook up the boost solenoid, then you cannot regulate boost. If anything, it is probably safer to not hook it up, lol. Of course, you do want to hook it up and get the increased boost levels and power.

Well I just plugged it in and also hooked up the jb4 interface. What's really wierd is my Map was set to 0. I wonder if since my car has been off for 3 days maybe it reset or something? .... I dunno but I'll get on it on my drive in to work tomorrow.

I hooked mine up and drove him and didn't feel much at all. Got home and checked and was on Map 1 for some reason so same situation. Haven't really gotten an opportunity to see much of a difference yet.

the solenoid makes the most difference for top end boost and you will feel it distinctly at WOT at the upper RPMs but it does make a difference.

Did you have it set to Map2 before and it changed to Map1 on its own?

Well it was definitely set at Map 2. There is no telling if it defaulted back to 1 or if I somehow had a combo streak of volume up and down to change it.

Haven't had a limp mode issue since last time. I did seem to locate the source causing the acceleration problem - my aftermarket intake. I think that might've triggered the limp mode with stage 2. I did have the engine light came on also believed to be caused by the intake and my sudden jump in acceleration was getting worse and worse. Removed the intake and am now running back on Map 2. Fingers crossed and hopefully no more issue.

What intake? Are you auto or manual trans?

*edit: Never mind, if you're running stage 2, you gotta be auto trans.

Is this a drop-in filter or a full intake as i was sure there are no full intake applications for the f30 N55 yet outside of the overpriced Injen one?

also, Terry has dynoed the F30 N55 numerous times with and without intake; with and without tune and even with maximum flow (ala no intake at all) it made absolutely no more power and he was adamant that an intake for this application was a waste of money. you can find those dynos on the "other" site.

Basically.

Apparently part of the reason was the higher flow didn't counter act the hot engine air it was sucking in to actually make more power. I think in some instances it actually made LESS power (negligible but still...)

That is the F30 328. The F30 335 is a different story all together and has power potential with intake changes. Not huge, but at higher boost levels significant enough to justify intake development. More on that in the coming weeks.

That will be a 'noticable' difference. Adding a DP and swapping to Map 2 should feel more dramatic than stock > Map 1 on stage 2.

That's like 100 wtq over map 1.
