Had this retrofitted a few days ago and I'm really pleased with it. It's a vast improvement on the standard cluster which I always thought was awful looking for a premium car. Would of spec'ed it but my car was pre built. Also got my car back from the dealers with the new seat base too. The guy is coming back to get rid of the red dot once he gets some parts.

Awesome, good deal. I think they are like £350-400 new!

Trying to find some pics of old and 6wa side by side at the moment.

Yeah he's coming back to sort it out. I believe it's because the chassis needs to be coded into the cluster via a new chip which has to be soldered in. I think it's something to do with clocking etc. Apparently it's not possible anyway on f30 and Mileage is stored in three different places.

I spec'ed it as an option when I bought my 320i for and extra £140. It is called a full black panel display on the optons and gives some nice extra graphics but it's not really a "full panel" like some of it''s competitors.

The guy who does my coding and fitted my radio trim. He charged £150 which sounds like a lot but when you consider that included cables, soldering/coding plus he comes to me and was at mine for 3 hours it's reasonable compared to a garage.

I thought the red milage anti tamper Dot was permanent once tripped...
But I am known to be wrong!

My understanding was the the odometer picked up the highest milage from a milage records stored in a number of locations in the car ecu eg Kombi, fem-body etc and if the Kombi was coded to display a value less than the highest recorded milage then you get the red tamper Dot.
This could be triggered by putting a second hand Kombi from a donor car with a higher milage than the recipient car and then adjusting the milage back shown on the Kombi to reflect the milage of the recipient car.

If the donor car Kombi had a lower milage than the recipient car, the stored milage in the recipient car would update the Kombi to reflect the higher milage of the recipient car and no red dot would be displayed.

Good luck tho!

Red dot is there simply as vin stored in 6wa is different to recipient's car.

The fitter (simon I believe) will have to install a new chip or virginized the existing chip to start with and then code 6wa to op's car so it will pick the vin from there.

And your comment re: picking milage is more or less correct.

Yes that's right he tried using the old chip but to no avail. He's buying a new (virgin) one which should work.
