You removed the battery to charge it? You can charge it from the posts under the hood which is the preferred method so you don't bypass the computer. You can try unplugging the negative terminal and waiting 20 minutes before reconnecting to see if that clears the codes.

Just to ask, did he drop the ratchet when the battery was already connected to the car (like terminal was already on) or did he just straight up drop it across the battery?
Edit: check this I dunno how specific it is but worth a shot to see what's up https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/bmw/ |

i didn’t have an outlet near the car so I had to unplug it and I tried taking battery off and putting back on no luck seems like from those codes there’s some kind of short somewhere

If the car detects a number of shorts the system will shut down until the causes have been remedied and the codes cleared.
Next time use an extension cord. |

At least that's what the manual for my Battery Tender Plus advises, and I'd rather not take the risk. Luckily I have an outlet right in front of my car and can connect everything straight to the posts under the hood. |

A trickle charger might draw 2 amperes, tops. Even an 18 gauge 50 foot extension cord is rated for 10 amperes. You should use an outdoor rated extension cord outdoors, but other than that there's no reason not to use an extension cord. Your manual says not to use them so they won't be legally liable for the inevitable idiot who uses 500 feet of 24 gauge indoor rated wire.

There's been a few house fires related to trickle chargers (probably cheap ones or being used improperly) so I tried to cut down on as many variables as possible. |

I’ve looked up some of these codes and most of them point to a ground short or something to do with no power with terminal 15N or KL87 anybody have a clue ?

Somebody above has pointed out that you might need to reset the codes before the dad starts, have you done/tried that?
