-40 temperature

I have a 2013 328i and my dashboard keeps on reading-40 temperature and I live in Texas! Can anyone help me please??? I want to know what's wrong with it.

Sounds like your temperature sensor has failed, I'm not sure -40 is the limit on our cars, but when a sensor fails, it usually defaults to the limit number.

+1 for temperature sensor failure. Likely has to be replaced.

On our '13 328iX it clips into the belly pan on the driver's/left side almost in line with the fog light, behind the "lump."

Great info, this doesn't seem to be hard for a DIY, one thing I love about our bimmers is they're so much easier to work on than merc or audi.

I hope you have better luck than I did. When I plugged in a new sensor I still had the error. I cleared all the error codes too. Ultimately took to the dealer and they repaired under goodwill as the warranty expired a week prior.

FYI I removed the front wheel and took out the fender liner to replace. The sensor snaps into place and has a two wire connection. Easy enough to do...just wish it was plug and play for me.
