Any insight on the dialog below?
Passed Maryland self serve emissions testing with bootmod3 flashed. But I put the stock cat back in.
Proud of you? You swapped back to a cat the doesn't create an issue. This thread is about cats that cause readiness check failures and cel.

Being flashed has nothing to do with passing emissions. It's the elimination of a cat that is the problem

Yep. I'm using OBD Fusion (iPhone) and it has a monitors tab so going to see what it shows with OTS tune vs. modified stock tune.

Why not run a catted high flow downpipe? Small loss in power and can still have all 4 sensors ready? Plus pass the sniffer in states that put sensor up the tailpipe?

Price difference. Not to mention all catted DPs are not created equal. I had a challenge HFC and it threw a CEL in the first week. There's only one or two companies that guarantee no CEL and the price of those DPs is why people have been trying to find a solution for catless.

Gotcha. The Wagner catted downpipe will throw the cel I take it? Thanks

It's not about the maker of the high-flow cats, it's about the concentration they're using.

From what I understand, OEM is 400 CEL, and if you stick with 300 CEL cats chances are you wouldn't throw a code.

Most makers use 200 CEL though, so make sure you check before you buy.

I think the ideal situation would be is how do we set all readiness monitors to ready minus the cat monitor. I wonder if that is possible through a map editor in BM3 and doesn't require deeper coding.

Wagner is 200 so would throw a cel I guess

So this is what my monitors look like running the Stage 2 E30 map. After I run through this take of E30 I'll flash to stock and review monitors again. Next, I'll flash the modified stock map (as per post earlier in this thread) and test again.

Damn I'm getting my catless DP TODAY and my inspection expires in September. Really don't want to wait until the end of the month to swap it.

Can you get your inspection early? Best bet is to swap out the DP after inspection.

Good question... I'm in NY. I have to look into that and see if I can. If so, I'll have a year to figure out the next one

Just spoke to my local guy. He says as long as only one monitor is on, I'm good to go. Here we go!

So excited to let you guys know that my f32 n55 EWG passed emission test today with stock tune and catless downpipe and without any other mods (simulator or spacer) today.... if you are near Boston or in Massachusetts, you know it's hard to pass without cat. But my guy at a trusted shop just had the inspection stickered !!!!

So much effort spent on reading the posts in the forum ... purchased VRSF dp fix...looked through the tutorials.... nothing worked on EWG... until my guy told me the car needs to be driven in a specific manner so the monitors come on while still before the o2 sends a CEL... I don't know how he did it but he just drove it for some miles and had it passed! .. and he has done three cars successfully...all 2014+ N 55 EWG.

That's awesome news. Any way that you can source the driving procedure and post it here?

The above is definitely possible - I recall drive cycling around 8 times and 1 of those times all monitors turned ready, but the CEL triggered shortly (within 5 miles of additional driving).

The other 7 times the CEL came on as soon as the monitors were "Ready".

As I was prepping to do the same in AZ (get all readiness monitors set but O2), I was instructed to follow the following procedure:

https://www.instructables.com/id/How...or-Smog-Check/

The guy on the N55 FB page said he has done this a couple of times now and if you follow it exactly, it will get all your readiness monitors minus O2 ready for emissions. He said the trick is to try and follow this procedure while using an OBDII reader to watch your readiness monitors in real time. As soon as you had all but one monitor ready, drive straight to the testing station and get it tested. A good tip would be to try and do the driving procedure as close to the testing facility as possible.
