UFI F3x oil filter?

On FCPEURO they have the f3x oil change kit with a UFI filter. Never heard of them. Last time the kit came with a BMW part or MANN. How are these UFI filters? Should I keep course and get a BMW/Mann filter instead?

If they're not used as OEM, like Mann and Mahle, I don't use them either.

For my 2013 F30 335i, the FCPEURO site oil change kits only offer kits with the Mann HU816X or a BMW oil filter.

Hey guys,

I'm an automotive design engineer at FCP Euro. I also help to investigate issues and manage BMW product.

UFI is a massive OEM supplier for BMW's oil filter housings. Subsequently, the oil filters that are assembled in the vehicles at the factory are also provided by them. They have an OEM and aftermarket branch. If you look closely at your BX8 oil filter housing you'll likely notice a UFI logo, and as I said the first oil filter your car likely ever had was from UFI.

I hope this can clear the air (filter pun?) on where their filters come from. We chose to source them based on their strong OEM reputation and their consistent stock availability.

Here is a photo of a Genuine BMW oil filter for B58s, if you look closely you can see that UFI is the OEM supplier.

This!

UFI is an Italian OEM and I've spotted it on things like fuel filters for my old VWs.

Still though, the Mann filter is made in Germany compared to the others being sourced from Turkey / Tunisia / Bulgaria etc.

Thanks for providing some insight on UFI.

I think it is sort of like Castrol being printed on oil filler cap, marketing. With what Galavantory offered and the stamping on the cap it certainly shows UFI has a position in the market. Funny I never heard of them before, probably wasn't paying enough attention.

I stand corrected. That is a manufacturer stamp not a marketing stamp. Castrol has a contract to supply oil to BMW thus they get the stamp on the cap. UFI manufactures that part where the filter is installed.
